Erm......lol......Help
Ok......
There must be some geniouses out there that can help me, I am having a bit of a headache with this god damn question, I don't understand it at all and even though I am allowed to skip the question its got me baffled to the point where I need to know what the hell it is.
Consider the following compound condition:
X AND (Y OR X) Which of the following is equivalent to it? (Select one option.) (Hint: you will probably have to draw a truth table to find the answer to this question.)
A X
B (X AND Y) OR Y
C Y
D (X OR Y) AND Y
I Assume this is maths? All i know is its something to do with Data as thats what my course is about.
Any Ideas?

It would be A just x as x is all you need and must have to get an output. (I think, it been a while) you will get no output with y unless you have x.

Yes you can but its the same as having just x without x you get no output. The output only follows x so y is useless and has no influence on the output.
Truth table
x y output
0 0 0
0 1 0
1 0 1
1 1 1
So it is the same as just having x on its own.

Never knowingly up-to-date, are the OU?
I did my OU MSc Computing in Business in the mid-90's, and the OS you had to discuss/answer questions on was CP/M.
