Bone Cancer
Can bone cancer spread, and how long do people have left to live if they get it, generally?

Ignore me, I am not qualified to make such statements, have a look at the FAQ's and hopefully you'll get the answers you need

Re: Bone Cancer
I would try and talk to professonals and not read stuff of the net and treat it a gospel. Every case will be different.
Try the macmillian Nurses

When my mum was diagnosed with breat cancer, she was given there number and told that she / family could call 24/7.
What ever the out come don't let it get you down. remember Jane Tomlinson.

It's commoner to get a cancer spread from somewhere else (prostate etc.) to bone....
If you could supply the name of the cancer in question I might be able to be of help....but it would probably be not much more than informed guesswork as these things can sometimes be textbook cases and other times not....

Re: Bone Cancer
My father-in-law had prostate cancer, and it spread to the bones; it took about 14 years to finish him off.
The last 5-6, we thought we had lost him a couple of times, but he recovered.

Re: Bone Cancer
It depends how aggressive the cancer is, and how it responds to treatment.

Re: Bone Cancer
Might be something here (did a Google):
http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/default.asp?page=4404
As I understand it, bone cancer is difficult to treat, with a poor survival rate. How long do people have left? Well we're all unique - it varies greatly.

Re: Bone Cancer
Knew a lad who had bone cancer in his shoulder at 15 or so and had the affected bone removed and replaced with some from his leg. Was doing ok some 15 years later when last I heard of him.

Re: Bone Cancer
When I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's after a surgen removed a lump it was about 3 days before I was seen by a specialist and in those 3 days whilst looking round the net it was scariest 3 days in my life with all the information I found.
After speaking to the specialist about the Hodgkin's and the type I have even though its serious but treatable, I will never do a search through a search engine again for this type of information due to the amount of incorrect information and the worry it caused to me and my family after reading some of the forums.
Best advise would be do what others have said and speak to a specialist in that area as it does depend on the type of cancer and the person who has it.
