If you bank with halifax you can upgrade your bank account to 'ultimate' and get free roadside recovery, free card protection and annual travel insurance plus other benefits for £10 a month. I'm considering this myself as i'm currently with green flag and pay £8.25 per month for that alone.

Re: Road side Repair & Recovery ?
I was with Green Flag for 3 yrs till they refused to come and get me after an accident as they said it wasn't technically a breakdown even though the car wouldn't go, sounds like a breakdown to me..
With the RAC now, the no claims discount soon mounts up

Re: Road side Repair & Recovery ?
Don't touch Green Flag - they are useless. Broke down once, got recovered to a garage with no attempt to fix it. Nice expensive bill afterwards - when I spoke to the AA they said is was a common problem and they would have towed me to the nearest main dealer - I'd purchase the part and they would have fitted it there and then.
With AA through Lloyds bank account now ( Platinum account) - £15 a month for loads of value add extras - and as Ms LSainsbury and I have a joint account we get virtually double the value add. Check out your bank provider for deals!
Back to the question though - AA always for me - never tried RAC but don't touch Green Flag!

Re: Road side Repair & Recovery ?
I'm with the RAC. I get a discount through my employer, although I'm sure that if you haggled with them directly on the phone you'd be able to get a similar deal. Not had to call them out yet though, so not sure if they're any good or not.
Had to call the AA once when I had a puncture on a transit van I'd hired. Very good service, highly recommended. Can't stand their TV adverts though.

Re: Road side Repair & Recovery ?
I'm with the AA, I pay £13/month for Home Start, Roadside Recovery and Relay, its great to have the extra peace of mind, especially with an older car (mine is 14 years old ) - only had to call them once, they turned up within 25 minutes and got my car running in good time (at the side of the road - wasn't firing due to damp in the distributor)
