Greenham Common - keep it green!

A plea for help - will take you less than 30 seconds!

I live very close to Greenham Common, and this chap has setup an epetition for Greenham Common to be re-opened as an airfield.

Greenham common is now a habitat for all kinds of wild flowers and wildlife, so - I've set one up to keep it common land.

I know it's a rather local issue, but I'd grateful if some of you could sign it as it more of an environmental issue!

Cheers!

Re: Greenham Common - keep it green!

Not being funny mate, but if you want people to sign up to this you might have wanted to word it slightly more carefully. Your first sentance directly attacks the poster of the original petition, rather than the reasons for it.

That said, I happen to agree with what you're doing and why - so I've signed the petition. There are more than enough places that people can visit to see old relics (no jokes about the House of Commons please) without trashing a place like Greenham Common

Re: Greenham Common - keep it green!

I seem to remember seeing something about Greenham Common on BBC1's (Sunday morning) Countryfile programme. For what I can remember, isn't that site now (due to some rare species of fauna) designated as a SSSI? In addition, were'nt all of the runways and peri-treks dug up and bulldozed?

Seems (to me) that this would be a very expensive venture indeed.

Anyway you've got my vote

Good luck and Si thee

LOL! - Yeah I know! You know me....straight talking and too the point. At the end of the day he hasn't got a hope in hell - I cannot see that place being re-opened as an airfield for a long time if ever - the locals would be up in arms!

Unless that is, Mr Putin resumes long range surveillance missions...

Re: Greenham Common - keep it green!

Go on, now tell us you signed the petition for the airfield?

Re: Greenham Common - keep it green!

Hope you don't mind, but I've taken the liberty of emailing 'Newbury Today' and directing them to your opposing petition as well. I thought they might like to publicise it in the interests of being fair and unbiased

Re: Greenham Common - keep it green!

Come on guys while this will not make this space be used as green fields and wild life it just lets people know you care. Tell your friends, get other people to sign. Note Raistlin was the only person to use his real name
