I feel like my brother and sister dont wanna know me

Let me tell you the back ground. My sister is no relation to me anyway as my dad re married and his wife already had a daughter but her dad did not wanna know. My dad adopted her and I have grew up with her and my brother is my dads son and his wifes son so he is a half brother.

The reason I feel like this is because they never talk to me at all unless we got our baby there. We had to go to a funeral last week and no kids was allowed there so it was just me and my partner. My sister hardly said one word to me or my partner and my sisters husband never even said hello. I could understand if it was because she was sad but she spoke to everyone else. My brother hardly spoke to me to.

Whenever I text them I get no replies at all but I have my dad text them and instantly get a reply.

The last straw in this was I asked my brother to be a godparent to my son when he was born in July 06. He said yes. Three weeks ago I texted him to let him know that we had a date booked and once again no reply. And tonight he actually texted me to say he could not come as he was going on holiday the day before.

I just feel so depressed

be* in some ways I would say totally forget about them.

but then in another way I would try to find out what has happend between you 3?

Whats the age difference??

You can't choose your relatives but you can choose good friends to replace them.

I know it's hard, believe me when I say I've been where you are at the moment, but once I accepted that my family would never change it was a load off my shoulders. I didn't cut them out of my life but I no longer initiated any contact with them, neither did I expect nor give any favours.

Funnily enough they now seem to want to keep in touch but I make sure they do it on my terms.

They don't deserve to have the privilege of having a special place your son's life. Choose a good friend instead, one who will be a better example to the boy as he grows up.

My sister is 6 months younger then me and my brother is 6 years younger.

so what has happend between you 3 before then, something must've happend that the relationship is that bad.

thats the only thing that I could think of, whats the relationship between you, your dad and your step mom?

I did have a good relationship with my brother or thought I did anyway. Will be hard to just forget about them

Some families are like that. My brother is a good example, he only wants to know if I can do something for him like fixing a computer or some such. I don't hear from him otherwise. It was always the same, when our parents became too old to look after the grandchildren they stopped calling to see them.

I'd stop trying to contact them and see what happens, sometimes you can be too available.
