Single Sex Prison Prejudice

I heard an interesting discussion on the radio the other day about women's prisons not working. This is a discussion in it's own right but the thing I'd not thought about before is...

One caller made the comment that although it seems fair initially to have single sex prisons they are actually unfair to heterosexuals because it deprives them of the company of those they are attracted to.
They said that this was one of the few things in life that actually favours homosexuals above heterosexuals, a little perk if you like...

Is it time now to not differentiate between gender in prisions?

Well, in fairness, you are meant to be in prison as a punishment - why should you be lumped in with someone that you may find attractive, 'cos that may make it easier to bear

Plus, of course, you have to bear in mind that your average Friday night High Street is bad enough for blokes fighting over women - imagine the potenital for trouble when you have 200 blokes fighting over one woman with nowhere for it to spilll out to

I'm sure this is a bit too close to the notion that homosexuals are attracted to everyone of the same sex - the law of averages states if you get enough people of the sex which flicks your switch then you'll find someone you'll like, but there's no guarantee.
