For call centre work I'd be looking for someone with a good work ethic. That could treat the last call of the day same as the first. Some one that could take an angry complaint and diffuse the situation and resolve the issue without resorting to massive discounts.

They will likely be looking for someone that will turn up and can speak. This is a company that hired a recent immigrant to deliver technical support. The girl could barley speak English and had never used a computer prior to starting the job and was expected to be giving broadband technical support.

Just be polite and try give the impression you are eager to learn. Get as much expereience as you can and move on.

Middlesbrough, erm I only know about 3 places in there. o2, Vodafone and Virgin. I wouldn't mind o2 or Virgin.

Just a word of advice then, the staff attrition is atrocious at Garland's (Or was) Also on some of the other programmes (A national utilities company) the agents were treat very very badly indeed by team leaders.

Well I passed the assessment. It was easy. I have an interview next month.

Pia, the job you are doing now requires lots of different skills two of which are, I am sure, to keep your cool and think on your feet. Although you have never done a formal interview in the past you have dealt with the public. Just regard the interviewer as a slightly nosey customer, keep calm, look them straight in the eye, take a deep breath and be yourself.

The only reason they added the Middlesborough and Stockton sites was because they had gone though so many staff and needed a fresh area to recruit from :-)

That said I did have 2 years call centre experience in a very similar role so perhaps it was different for myself.

If cimt gets the job he should stick it out for a year then move onto Orange , Virgin, Barclaycard or Churchill. Churchill was best place to work one year AFAIR.

I will have it for about a year if I get the job. About this time next year I'll be hoping to go to uni.
