Re: The Happy Thought Thread - Part 2
Saw Prince at the O2 yesterday.
He was brilliant. Did a brilliant version of Play That Funky Music, and an accoustic version of Steam.
He has also poached a saxophonist from James Brown's old band, who was brilliant (and carried on playing solo throughout the intermission).
Downsides: While the O2 Arena (concert hall in the centre of the Dome) was brilliantly run (we got good service at the concessions and the queues for the toilets weren't too long, even though the Arena was full), I wasn't too impressed with the facilities around the arena. The restaurants and bars where nice, but were not equipped to deal with the amount of people they were dealing with. Thus, the average queue for food was over an hour. Now, the dome does have a system where you can collect a pager that your chosen restaurant will page when they are ready for you and you can go do something else, but, TBH, there is nothing else to do around there. Yes, you can go see a film, but you'll probably get paged before it ends. You can also go for a drink (at Starbucks or various bars), but you still get problems with excessive queueing.
Then, we come to the transport. I don't drive (not that it would make much difference- you'll find out why in a minute), so I was relying on public transport.
North Greenwich station is not big enough to cope with the amount of passengers needed (they frequently closed it for safety due to overcrowding). We ended up getting the bus back to Lewisham. The problem is that all of the busses (and most of the roads) go via th Blackwall Tunnel, one of which (the Northbound) was closed last night. So, we ended up waiting > 40 minutes for a bus. Of course, the staff at the bus station knew this (they told me when I asked), but they made no attempt to inform the passengers. No announcements.
TBH, if the casino had gone there, based on last night's experience, there is no way the transport infrastructure around Greenwich would cope with the crowds.

Nice one mate, enjoy it now coz in a few years, if he's like mine, a walk with them is murder, what with them shuffling their heels, trousers around their knees and not wanting to hold your hand in public coz of street cred
Nice one mate, my happy thought, just spoke with JT

Peanut butter or Marmite are also acceptable alternatives.

They grow up so fast, seems like only yesterday that he was just a little baby.
