Re: The Happy Thought Thread - Part 2
Squirrels,
My neighbour has a squirrels living in the trees at the back of his house. He went away for a short break last week and asked me to scatter a handful of peanuts on his rear lawn each morning. By the time I had reset the alarm, relocked the house and crossed to road back to my house the little darling had nabbed the first mouthful of nuts and was on my patio burying them in my planters.
I have suggested that, in future, when my neighbour goes away and gives me have the peanuts I will just throw handfuls on to my planters myself to save the squirrels having to cross the road.

A major contribution to road safety no doubt but isn't this taking away a sense of purpose for them?

Well it will only save them their morning exercise. I refill my bird feeders each afternoon and the squirrels line up to nick the sunflower seeds which they then take back home to my neighbours.

Speaking of woodpeckers... maybe VM could invest in some "attack woodpeckers" to knock out the competition

I'm a Weight Watcher and I'm on their points system.I've been doing it since after Easter and I started at just over 20 stone and I'm 3 pounds off 18 stone now.I would like to get to around 10 stone eventually and that's going to take at the very least another 18 months at my age.

Well you certainly don't look anything like 20 stone in the members picture gallery Cogs! Is it an old photo, and will you post a new one when you have lost all that weight? You've set yourself one heck of a task, 10 stone is a whole new person to lose. Zing has done it, I'm full of admiration for him. I just hope I can keep myself focused to lose a further 2 stones, but it gets harder the older you are. Someone gave me the Heart Foundation diet to have a look at, and apparently you can lose 5-7lbs after 3 days and 10-15lbs after 7 days. I think I'll just stick with the calorie counting! Good luck Coggy.

As far as I know, and I could be completely wrong, a lot of babies have holes in their hearts but they tend to fix themselves?

Re: The Happy Thought Thread - Part 2
Went round my mum's this evening to take my step-dad his card & prezzie [got him 4 bags of Bassets Allsorts]. It was nice seeing them again, as I hadn't been around there in a while. Another good thing is my mum's finally managed to get 1 of those CPAP machines, & she definitely seemed to have more energy, which is good, as she was constantly tired all the time before she got it.

Alien, i think you just solved something no doctor has managed to fix as of yet.
My gf suffers from all of the symptoms listed for Sleep Apnea (Found via your link), including the gasps at night followed by odd breathing etc... It's been troubling her for well over a year, and if we could somehow get it investigated, and cured, i'd owe it all to you.
Let's hope this turns out to be true after i show her this, and get her to go see her Doctor regarding it.

For some people the solution can be a simple gizmo that you sort of fit into your mouth when you go to bed, & they have to be tailored/fitted for the individual [by a dentist IIRC]. Some people, like my mum, can't cope with them [kinda like some people can't wear contact lenses], so they often end up with 1 of those machines.
I don't know if they have an equivalent to the NHS over there, but over here ones you pay for pivately can go for £450+. Also, [again, over here] you can't even buy 1 unless you get a prescription for 1.
