Be useful in Crimewatch, extrapolating different image angles from a cctv shot.

I would have thought you could stretch your pockets to £154, which is only £24 more than the latest version of Poser [can't recall you mentioning which version you use, I don't use it myself].
As for trueSpace... I know it's not exactly cheap for us mere mortals, but it's "pocket change" compared to the price of some progs. I originally got tS 6.5 at a reduced price via a magazine special offer, upgraded to 6.6 when that came out for an extra £50, then a year or 2 later they had an offer of 1 year's proTeam membership for around $600 [just over £300], which aside from including all the courses already released plus any during the year, also included the next full version [7.0], plus the option to beta test 7.0 before it was released publically. I was a bit hesitant at first, but then I noticed they do a payment plan thing that splits the cost over 3 months, which made it much harder to say no to.

I might have done if in the last three months I hadn't upgraded to Bryce 6,purchased Victoria 4(and of course all the old clothes don't fit her so she needs a new wardrobe ) paid out for the new Terragen 2 AND just got a very good deal for Carrara Pro 5 from Daz plus pay my yearly subscription for Daz Platinum Club. Not bothered upgrading to Poser 7 because I've still not got to grips with version 6.This is one of my resolutions this year so I can upgrade later in the year.
I'll keep this in mind for the future when I've reduced my CC bill somewhat..

I tried Bryce 4 once, came on a magazine CD a few years ago, wasn't keen on the interface. I got that freebie copy of Bryce 5 when they were giving it out... a couple/few months ago, still not impressed with the interface, & it's not exactly made for a dual monitor setup.

Aren't you a bit old to be playing dress-up?

I've never understood the attraction of buying other people's models to use. It's always seemed like taking the easy way out. Kind of like when a rich person pays an interior designer to decorate their house:
Visitor: Oh, wow! I love what you've done with the place, it looks amazing. You must have such a sense of achievement after all the hard work it must have taken.
Home owner: Well... actually... I hired an interior designer to do it.
Visitor: Oh. Well, it's still... nice...
Another cool thing about Caligari: you don't have to pay a yearly fee just to be eligible to win $25. You can enter the monthly competition with even the free version 3.
Quote:
The Winners in each category will receive their choice of one of the following:The Runners-up in each category will have their choice of one of the following:- Any one proTeam tutorial course, pluSpack1, pluSpack2, ShaderPack [not sure if these last 3 are still available], aniPak, fxPak, dePak, rayPak, iPak (requires tS6.6) or a single node or 3-node tSNet license
- Virtual Caledonia's Sherman tank model kit:
http://www.virtualcaledonia.com/vctek/sherman.htm
- A choice of books
- $50 credit against future Caligari purchases

[list is accurate AFAIK, but I added the links myself]
A bit better than $25, eh?

I did fiddle with Poser, very briefly [demo version], but as the interface has more than a passing resemblence to that of Bryce I didn't bother with it much. Also, the issue I mentioned about buying models applies to using Poser as well. Kind of like buying a sports car, then paying a chauffeur to drive you around in it.

For someone who's not used to tS, you're probably better off waiting until 7.5's released [unless they do some sort of offer that includes an upgrade to 7.5]. The thing with 7 is...
Basically they coded themselves into a corner with the old architecture [tS 4.4 -> 6.6], so decided to start over from scratch. However, they realised they wouldn't be able recreate all the exisiting tools for the new code base within a short enough time frame to keep customers happy, so what they did is make a "bridge" that enabled them to use the old 6.6 code as 1 huge plugin [& also use pre-existing plugins with the old core] until the new "side" has all the tools recreated for it &/or improved. 7.5 is going to be a rather big update over 7.0 [you can see some details here].

Well I got into all this When I discovered Daz had acquired Bryce 5 and were offering it at a price I could just about afford. Then I got so interested I tried the completely free Daz Studio.I got Poser because I wanted to learn how to make clothing and hair(but it's proved harder than I thought). Now I'm ready to move on and I just got as I already said Cararra 5 Pro in which I hope to learn to make my own models. It's going ok at the moment as I've managed to buy a book and found lots of tutorials online.
Have you got a gallery anywhere of your truespace work by the way?

That reminds me of a piece of software that I goit back in the day free with PC Answers magazine where a man morphed into a frog and back.
You couldlload different fimages and morph them. It was pretty cool
