kitchen arrangements
does anyone think it would be a terribly bad idea for me to put a 14" portable tv on top of our fridge freezer? it's just that our kitchen is so small! no, we don't need a tv in the kitchen - it was gathering dust as the spare in the bedroom so I thought it may as well be put to use!
of course the cat shall have to go... see pics

Re: kitchen arrangements
And as long as the top of the fridge can take the weight, some push in very easily and you don't want to be buying a new one do you

Re: kitchen arrangements
lol, i've got a little ariel (?) thing, reception is amazingly better in the kitchen than the bedroom - even channel 5 is clear! the cat changes her spots and thankfully hasn't been up there in a while... its not even my cat!

eek! don't think the tv is that heavy... maybe i'll wait til Anton gets home. lol. there are always fridge freezers up for sale on ebay near us (and sofas! now one of those we do need), and plenty on freecycle, so I'm not too worried about getting another!

Re: kitchen arrangements
If in doubt about the weight, get a thin sheet of board lay that over the top of the freezer first.

I've never heard of that problem. I've got my microwave on top of mine, & there's no sagging/denting, etc. Then again, it is a fairly old 1 - maybe they make them more flimsy these days. I hope not, as I'm planning on getting a new 1 some time this year, & the micro will still be sitting on top of that.

Stick it on freecycle. If you put a tv in the kitchen it will end in tears. Your cooking will get spoilt due to the distrcation and everything will take ages.

I don't cook - he does! I do sometimes, but not very often. does whacking some frozen chicken in the oven count as cooking?

Tell Anton to purtchase his chicken from his local butchers. Its better quality and the price is not much different than the supermarkets.
A few weeks ago my partner foolishly bought a bag of frozen chicken breasts from a well known supermarket. When i took a few out of the bag and defrosted them i was disgusted. They looked like roadkill and were not fit for human consumption. I duly photographed the offending items and wrote to the supermarket HQ. I am now clutching my £20 voucher and a letter of apology. I have attached a pic of the offending items. A salutory lesson not to buy meat from supermarkets who inevitably buy it in from some crummy meat processing plant. Support your local butcher.

I fear for your waistline and also your cholestorl level lauzjp. A quick look at www.yell.co.uk should find your nearest quality local butcher where you will rediscover the joys of quality food rahter than processed junk from the supermarket. If we dont support local businesses such as these then we will be force fed crap from the supermarkets becuase we simply will have no choice.

Re: kitchen arrangements
My local supermarkets (Asda, Sainsburys, Morrisons) all have excellent fresh meat and fish counters. I also use my local butcher, who supplies lovely free-range turkeys at Christmas as well.
Your ex-frozen chicken looked like it had freezer burn.
