Re: UKs lager fans switch to weaker brews.
don't think this will work with the mindless morons and yobs we see in city centres these days
all they do is order the strongest lager whether they like it or not just to get drunk quicker.. these people won't buy a weaker brew
for the more sensible drinker it gives more choice though

Will make 2 pints on a lunch time better as it maybe won't make you want to sleep all day.

Of course they won't go for the weaker brew. They're out for one reason, to get drunk and have a good time. The majority of people drink alcohol for it's taste combinded with % of booze within. I for one don't go out and get the strongest drink I can find just so I can get drunk faster. Nor do I know anyone who does this, maybe an alcoholic, but not the people I know.

I don't know about 5.4%, but I grew up with 5% lagers, and the 4% stuff doesn't do it for me. No bite...
As an aside to the article in the first post, Heineken took their weak brew off the UK market not too long ago. That is, all Heineken sold in the UK now is the proper 5% stuff (as it is all over the world). So, Heineken at least is not on the 'weak brew' bandwagon. Quite the opposite.

I hope that they don't bring the weak brew version back. Awful stuff...
