Some disability concessions...
Got a disability?
Here's a list of some of the concessions you can get.....
LINK
By the way the podcast the site does is quite good - if not politically correct

Re: Some disability concessions...
So you'll be going for this concession?

Did you know that if you are intending to, or are already signed up for the Motability scheme, you may be entitled to a grant towards driving lessons? It's true!

Re: Some disability concessions...
I'd rather not have the disability. Keep the concessions, give me a day without pain.

I'd rather be able to see properly - but in the mean time I am going to try and get whatever I can for free or as cheap as possible.

Re: Some disability concessions...
Woohoo - for those who have a visual impairment...
Aisquared are beta testing the 9.1 zoomtext software.
http://www.aisquared.com/index.cfm
As well as Vista support it now has dual monitor support as well.
You can sign up for the beta and download it on the above link.
When it's final remember you may be able to get government funding towards the cost of the software especially if you can show you need it for work.

A free trial of a screen reader that's not tied to a pc. You can login and use it on any pc (that's got IE 6+ and xp).

Re: Some disability concessions...
'cause the thread is more than a certain age (a month IIRC), so the forum software is blocking it.

Re: Some disability concessions...
If you have a buss pass as I do and your local council haven't contacted you about the new national scheme it may be worth calling them to make sure they are upgrading your pass.
Basically from April next year there will be a single pass that will be accepted across England on local busses (so no nation express long trips for example).

Re: Some disability concessions...
How is one deemed to have a disability? Is it a self certification process or is there an official process as well ?

There is a process, and I believe it has to be initiated by a doctor.

Most concessions require you to be claiming some sort of Disability Living Allowance, mostly at a mid level as well.
