Improvements that didn't quite work

You all know what I mean ?

You just get used to something working just so when, POW, the manufacturer goes and 'improves' it.

2 examples, at work, we hire our vehicles as and when we need them, today I was in a 05 Mondeo, nice car BTW, my grumbles are

1)

The wipers, when you squirt the water to clean the screen it activates the wipers, great, 3 swooshes and a clean 'dry' screen, 2 seconds later it does a fourth swoosh and you get a screen that you can't see past the smears

2)

The indicators, they used to work at the slightest touch, flick the column and you got one flash of the indicator, now, the same flick gets you 3 flashes ......... why and for what purpose it makes it almost impossible to do a 'thank you' sequence when someone flashes you in

Got any more, go on, get them off ya chest

But on paper that's a great idea. Every time I wash my screen, after the wiper's stop I get a little dribble, so a delayed wipe would cure that

Another great safety idea. Makes sure your signal will get the opportunity to be seen. And of course the designers won't be considering the implications for the unofficial perhaps confusing signalling that goes on

Re: Improvements that didn't quite work

why not use your hazards to say thank you?

I know what you mean about the wipers though- my Rover does the same ... tis rather annoying. Wiping vinegar on the wiper blades does help prevent smears though

The oil on the chips counter acts it though

Why cant there be standard that says lights on the left stalk and wipers on the right. The two cars we have are both different

And the number of times ive hit the middle of the wheel for the horn only to remember im in the "other" car and for there to be silence!
