Sending a parcel overseas- Need some help
Hi all,
I'm sending a parcel to the USA via DHL
I have to fill out a..Proforma Invoice (customs stuff)
One of the questions on the sheet is...
"Name and Address of Manufacturer"
Eh? Is that my address or something else?
It also has "Customs Code number", which I haven't got a clue about either
At the declaration part, it says
"I declare that the above information is true and correct to the best of my knowledge,
and that the goods are of .................................. origin."
What do I put in the .......................... bit? hehe

Re: Sending a parcel overseas- Need some help
Don't get too hung up on this.
Your name and address, their name and address
Item, value and currency you are stating the value in.
You might also want to indicate that it is second hand or used, not new.
You don't need all the codes if the proforma invoice has less that 9 (i think) line items on it.
The ... is a country
So is the watch of Swiss Origin?
The point is to assess the parcel for import duties and sales tax without needing to open it etc. What you need to put on there is enough that someone who looks at these things every day can understand what you are sending and assess it accordingly.

Re: Sending a parcel overseas- Need some help
Address of manufacturer is just that, the address of the company that made it.

Re: Sending a parcel overseas- Need some help
Because you are not selling something that is new again don't get hung up on this.
They are trying to work out who made it and where, what it is and why it is going to where it is going.
This is especially important where there are penalty tarrifs, e.g egyptian cotton is penalised in the US to protect the US cotton growers, so they want to know if the cotton you are sending from the UK is grow in the UK or Egypt.
Being as these goods are not new, the address of the manufacturer (who may well be defunct) is not so important.

Re: Sending a parcel overseas- Need some help
Decided to use Parcelforce, can't believe how damn expensive it is
Original quote I had from DHL was over £70!
Using Parcelforces' datapost delivery, it came down to £40
