ICT Group

For the last 5/6 days, every day, I have had a call on my VoIP line from a number: 01895204833.

Calling this back there is a pre-recorded message saying it is the ICT group (http://www.ictgroup.com/).

Unfortunately my VoIP line is down at the moment - damn sipgate - but they seem to refuse to leave a voicemail.

Anybody recognise who ICT might be? I can;t imagine it is a random spam phonecall as there is no way they would try 6 days running.

Cheers.

Re: ICT Group

Probably is a spam call. I thought these things were frowned upon if not outright banned. Might be worth a check on OFCOM to see if you have grounds for complaint.

Re: ICT Group

Bizzarly, we just got rung up by someone claiming to be from Barclaycard. The woman asked for our postcode (she knew Mandys full name) but Mandy refused to tell the woman our postcode.....we 1471'd the number and googling it gave me this thread

Re: ICT Group

I had a call from this number today. Silence. 1471'd it and found this Forum. Reported to OFCOM.

OFCOM's reply:

Please note: We do not investigate individual consumer complaints. However, we record and
monitor complaint levels. If we identify an area of concern we may raise the matter with the
management of the company directly.
Your information will be passed to the relevant Ofcom team.

So please report this number. More complaints may get some action.

Re: ICT Group

The first time these clowns rang my wife (ostensibly from Barclaycard) she was out. The second time she told them that it was an inconvenient time and that in fact no time would be convienient. Thie third time she was out, I said that she did not wish to be contacted by telephone: the man said that he couldn't take my word for this! The fourth time she was out again...

I shudder to think what sort of commission arrangement they are on.

Re: ICT Group

I have to share with you the final (I hope) stage in the saga. The fifth time they rang (it was a woman) she seemed to be having some difficulty making her message clear (or perhaps she was playing for time?). Anyway, the point of the call seemed to be that several years ago my wife had checked a box asking not to be contacted by phone and the caller wanted to know if this was still the case!

Re: ICT Group

Strange, I got a call from these guys today, and this appears to be the only thread google knows about with the telephone number I got from 1471 (I was out when they called anyway).

Re: ICT Group

oO...

What happened with me was I left a message complaining to ICT and a lady called back to tell me that she couldn't tell me who was trying to call me due to Data Protection *scratch head*.

Turns out it was Barclaycard as they managed to get me in after 2 weeks of trying. They were trying to flog some insurance or something. I told the girl I had no intention of buying her insurance and to make sure that they never called me like this again (I also told her I had ticked the 'do not ever in a million years even attempt to contact me' box and the fact that she was calling was against the rulez!)

I haven't heard from them since but maybe one day again...

Re: ICT Group

I've just had the same number call me. Dialled 1471, searched the number on Google and came up with this forum.

It sounded like the line was very crackly. I wasn't overly impressed because I'm supposedly signed up with the TPS and I haven't had any calls like this before.

Re: ICT Group

You could try http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/cgi-bin/tps_complaints.pl or follow the advice given by that link read through http://www.ico.gov.uk/Home/what_we_c...nications.aspx
No point in contacting OFCOM as they are pretty useless anyway.

I've been lucky in that I haven't had any calls from them, so far. If I was getting calls from them I know what I'd be tempted to do, give them a blast of 1 of those air horns, I'm just not sure it's legal [I have a vague memory of hearing that it wasn't].

Something else you could try, just for the fun of it - look up the company's address [if you can find it], or better yet the MD/CEO's details, & give them those when they ask for your details.

Re: ICT Group

Just had a call from 01895204833. They said they were from Barclaycard!

With all the hooha doing the rounds about phishing etc I was somewhat evasive when asked to confirm my name and phone no! When I asked her "How do I know you are from Barclaycard?" she answered "Because I've just phoned you from Barclaycard"

Right!

So I persisted. "How do I know you are from Barclaycard?"
"You don't" was the magnificent reply.

So guess what: I politely told her the conversation was ending there and then. After I put the phone down I suddenly thought what I should have done! Replied with three little words! "Just a minute" and then left the call open and gone and made a cup of coffee until she got fed up with waiting. If she was on commission, then it would have been a mighty expensive call!!! Quite legal. Try it sometime!

No, she probably gets that done to her several times a day, waited about 30-60 seconds, then hung up and moved on.
