How long should I wait?
I went on eBay and used a Buy it now option on a item and paid with 5 minutes via paypal.
I paid on the 23rd. I sent him a email and said to him I understand it Xmas and asked if the item would be sent on the 27th and left it at that.
By yesterday I had no reply so sent him another email asking if the trainers had been sent out or will be soon. I need them as soon as possible. Still no reply. And as of now nothing.
I am now getting worried as its been 5 days without a reply and his auction states nothing about going away. Infact his auction states this
I AM A UK SELLER AND YOU WILL GET THESE IN TIME FOR XMAS.
ITEMS WILL BE POSTED WITHIN 24HRS OF RECEIVING PAYMENT.
How much longer do you think I should wait before contacting him again and then moving on to paypal?
Cheers

Re: How long should I wait?
You have been waiting five days, and the seller hasn't had the good manners to send you an email. If it was me, I would immediately take this up with PayPal and ebay.

Re: How long should I wait?
I agree the seller is being rude in not replying to your e-mails but as the 23rd was Saturday (half day closing at most PO's) there was no way you were going to get the item before Xmas. The PO was closed Monday and Tuesday so it wouldn't be until Wednesday that the item could be posted. Allowing for the backlog of mail after Xmas, realistically, it could be a week before you get the package.

Re: How long should I wait?
Even taking into account the backlog of mail because of Christmas there is no excuse for them not to reply back to you and give you an update.
Personally, I would contact them again and threaten that you are going to take it up with Paypal and also you will give them a bad rating on Ebay if they do not come up with a satisfactory explanation.

Re: How long should I wait?
Ever thought that the seller in question promised it before xmas because maybe he could have been going on holiday over the xmas period?

Re: How long should I wait?
I "won" an item on 10th December, paid by paypal within minutes of the auction ending, then waited and waited and waited... sent them several eBay "contact seller" messages and finally got one (automated) back on 20th December to say they were "shut for Xmas".
The item turned-up yesterday, postmarked 23rd December.....
Oh the joys of the Xmas slowdown.......

But still no email for you, presumably.
Some sellers just don't get it - a simple, honest email is often all it takes. I'm very forgiving of people if they just take a moment to let me know. If they can't be bothered, they deserve a bit of bother in return. Otherwise, what is to stop them behaving badly (or even worse) in the future?

You should definitely report him to ebay if he is not replying to your emails.

But what if he then refuses to send the item. I will leave feedback on the lines of very poor communications though when and if I get my item

I just saw also he lives in the same city as me.
I would pick them up if the request details link on eBay was working.
Got his details. Fat lot of good that did. All I got was a email telling me what city he lives in. I just noticed to I paid him £5 for delivery using Royal Mails next day delivery

Re: How long should I wait?
Have you reported him yet? If not, you really should because that shows the seller is just being rude by not replying to your emails and if you've paid £5 for next day delivery, you really should of got your item by now...

Yes I have done now but got to wait until the 18th Jan before Paypal do anything. But if I get refunded he will be getting his first negative feedback

Re: How long should I wait?
I am in a similar situation, "special delivery", posted on the 23rd, it has not arrived, royal mail has no record of it, seller send me a scan of his receipt, he is going to the post office now to chase it... Royal mail can no longer fulfill its targets...
