Wrapping paper recycling? in West Mids???

Hi all,
Sorry, this might be a bit odd, couldn't figure out where I could find out about this otherwise as my recycling day is tomorrow.
I live in the Dudley council area and have one of those black boxes. My parents live in Kent and my mum recycles her wrapping paper in a green bin.
She takes as much sellotape off as possible!
I know I can recycle paper but really have no idea about wrapping paper???!
I'm a bit annoyed that I get a leaflet saying about collections that didn't mention a thing about recycling wrapping paper and cards...(cards at Tesco etc.)
I've read in several sites to recycle it but a search on the Dudley council site says to put it in normal waste and they turn it to energy as it affects the quality of recycled paper???

That was a few years ago...

Anyone any ideas???

I think wrapping paper can be awkward because of the variety, particularly with metallic ones, same can apply to cards with glitter & suchlike. Stick it in the regular bin where it will be turned in to energy rather than landfill

Re: Wrapping paper recycling? in West Mids???

Our council says it can't be recycled due to most wrapping paper being made from recycled paper and the actual paper content is minimum. Also it's very thin and blocks the machines.
