Not impressed...
Got to PC World at 8:55 exactly... was shocked to see the shop not only open, but full, and I mean full. There was a whiteboard outside, which read a little something like this
"due to high demand, laptops at 199.99 have sold out, we do however have laptops from 350.00."
So after I pulled a poor lad aside and asked him wtf, (appenetly they opened at 8:30 due to the demand) I quizzed him about the other laptop. Mainly where is it, and has it got wireless. He went away for a minute and asked where I seen that sign. Bit annoyed at this point as the monkeys here remind me of certain NTL staff. Poor boy didnt know what day of the week it was, let alone the products the company he works for sell.
Anyways, he came back and said they had sold out of them as well. (how surprising). The poor boy went on to say both laptops will return tommorow. I asked if I could pre-order one and the conversation went something like this :-
PCW "sorry sir - we cant take pre-orders, you would have to come back tommorow at 9am"
ME "well I already did, today and you decided to open up early so whats to stop you pulling that trick out the hat again"
PCW "sorry sir, i cant answer that - its just luck I guess - come early maybe ?"
ME "no its not luck, when you place an ad saying a sale starts at 9am, the customer (and god only knows why) thinks that means 9am our time... and not 9am / 8:30 pcworlds time) - so why should I come early ? may I also suggest you change the whiteboard you have on the entrance as its false advertising if you still dont have the 350 quid lappys in stock. goodbye.
I letf at that point and sure enough they quickly changed the whiteboard. If one of the lappys did have wireless, I would of asked to speak to the manager and kicked of over false advertsing, but without wireless I didnt see the point.
There was a few families asking about the 2 laptops as well who look gutted when they found out the planks decided to start there sale early. Rubbish company, thank god I dont deal with them much...
