Contractor Umbrella companies
Has anyone here heard of, or had dealings with Work2live?
I currently use another umbrella company, but Work2live rang me today claiming to offer a better deal, fully compliant with current regulations and to meet the proposed changes for managed services companies.
The umbrella company I am with is looking expensive for the amount of work I am doing at the moment, so if anyone can recommend a good reliable managed services company, I will be interested in your views.
I do not propose setting up as a Limited Company!
Thanks for your time.

Re: Contractor Umbrella companies
No, to put it simply, they process payroll for contractors such as myself, look after tax and NI etc

Re: Contractor Umbrella companies
If your going to stay contracting then I'd seriously suggest going as a limited company and get yourself an accountant. This is probably the only way to avoid G.Brown and Co for the future.
If you not a memeber of the PCG then join, they will know far more about what the best option is rather than a cold calling managed services company who are likely to lose business as soon as the new legislation comes in.
At the end of the day provided you haven't been taking the proverbial then G.Brown wont be able to get at you. But I expect he will be going after a number of people for back taxes.
Persoanlly as I actually have been providing a service to the people that pay me rather than just doing another employees job I'm fine.

My dad uses Brooksons and finds them very easy to deal with and value for money.

Re: Contractor Umbrella companies
I think the place I used to use was called Brolly - they managed to lose a contract that I had signed, which is why I have the permanent job I have now...

Thanks, I will check up on PCG, looks a good source of info. I really don't want to set up as limited company, I don't meet the criteria AFAIK, I just want get my pay after taxes etc from the agency.

You need at least one director and a company secretary. And they can't be the same person! Although if you have 2 directors, one of them can be the secretary.
