Re: Lightest Fag...
I have been a non smoker since end of aug and I am 50 years old, I bought 100 peices of nicotine gum and only used 5.
I have occasions when I have been stressed at work but didn't even think about ciggies.
But I did plan to pack in just after my birthday, which I did, I don't feel any different except when I wake in the mornings I am wide awake, not slowly coming round as I used to.
Oh, my sex life is better as well

Re: Lightest Fag...
I tried giving up back in the summer, after 10 years of smoking. had the patches and the gum. I lasted about a week. It was hell. I was irritable, snappy, constantly angry with everyone. All I could think about was having a ciggie. I loved smoking, enjoyed it, a lot of my friends smoked. Its how I de-stressed. So I started back.
Then exactly 14 days ago I woke up and out of the blue decided I didnt want to smoke anymore. I realised I didnt want to smell like an ashtray, be out of breath climbing stairs, standing in the rain in my lunch breaks, and burning £5 a day away to nothing. Most importantly i thought I didnt want to die earlier than I was due. It was really strange. I'm now on day 14, totally cold turkey and I don't even think about smoking. the thought of inhaling it makes me feel ill now. And I've actually started tasting and smelling my food. The down side is that my chest is really bad at the mo while it clears. And I find I want to eat to replace the cigarettes. (have bought loadsa fruit but its not as nice as choc and biscuits lol)
I think you really have to want to give up to do it. And not make a big plan, as in 'i'm giving up as of Monday'. you'll know when you want to do it, and have to do it there and then.

Tell him you will try, unless he gives up smoking - that should motivate him!
