HELP!! I have just been a victim of road rage

On my way home from work I was just nearly assaulted by a white van driver. I'll give you guys the story now (Ive even drawn up some pictures). Sorry if it doesnt make good sense at the moment but my hands are still shaking and I needed to get this off my chest and hopefully find out what I should do next.

I was exiting the car park at the supermarket where I work, I was at the front on the right lane and he was at the front of the left lane. Both lanes are left turn only.

The lights turned green and we both set off , I took the corner very wide as this has happened before (Last time it was so close my wing mirror was bent forwards).
As we both joined the main road I noticed he was drifting right over onto my lane so I took evasive action and moved to my extreme right hoping he would relise and move off. He still didnt get it so I beeped my horn hoping that would wake him up and make him realise.

He did realise and moved back into his lane, all was well I thought and started to overtake. As I looked towards his car I could see him screaming at his window, swearing at me and generally gesturing angrily. I swore back casually and carried on overtaking now that he was in his own lane (I know I know, big mistake swearing back but I was frustrated).
After I overtook he tail-gaited me quite closeley until another van turning right forced me to slow down and stop to wich he slammed on the gas and cut into the left lane so I was effectiveley stuck behind the van. Happens to me on a daily basis so it didnt bother me too much, I just wish the second van would have indicated sooner so I wasnt so close when I had to stop.
Anyway as the original van driver undertook me (Legally since the right lane was stationary now) he and his two gremlins (I mean kids) all made a point of swearing at me and making angry gestures again, so once again I swore back at them and they sped off down the road.
After only a couple of seconds wait The second van had turned right and I was on my way again. There was nothing to overtake so I moved into the left lane. Further up the road there is a supermarket petrol station wich I was planning to use so I maintained my road position. It was at that point I noticed the oringal white van again driving very slowly down the road in the right hand lane. I assumed he was turning right since he didnt look like the type to indicate anyway so I undertook him at quite a low speed since I was getting ready to turn left. It was at this point that he really slammed on the gas again and cut into my lane wedging his car infront of me so I had to emergency stop.

I beeped againjust thinking he was doing this to be an A-hole and it was then that he jumped out of his van walked up to my car banged on the window and tried to pull my door open, even when he realised it was locked it didnt stop him trying (Thought he was going to pull the handle off). When he realised he couldnt get in he started banging on the window again, though this time much harder, he gave one last slightly hesitant bang and I think he thought better of it, since if it did smash not only would he be more likley to wound himself than me but then you could be talking criminal damage if I take it further etc.
All the time while he was doing this he was screaming at me to get out of the effing car, telling me im effing dead etc. He was also screaming some gibberish about how im another stupid expletive for doing that in traffic (What the hell did I do?).
I tried to stay calm but I couldnt, half of me wanted to get out and hit him I was so angry, part of me wanted to reverse out and drive away Wich sadly wasnt an option since a considderate bmw driver on her mobile had drove up too close behind me for me to even move (Though I guess that might have been because she may have had to emergency stop too), the other part of me wanted to pick up my mobile and call the police but I just froze.after a moment or two of continuous banging and verbal abuse he walked away, I think he spat at my car and then drove off (nealry knocking into another car the same way he nearly knocked into me wich is what caused the whole incident in the first place). I took down his registration because it was the only thing I could think to do and then pulled into the supermarket carpark to catch my breath and to stop shaking, I could barley drive my leg was shaking so much. I know this may sound like male brovado but I dont think I was scared I was angry (adrenal rush), I have taken a beating before plus im pretty sure when he had seen me stand up if Id gotten out of the car it would have been him shaking and not me. I just know better than to initiate a fight, and I also know not to take the first hit so best option is to just not fight.
I think I did the right thing anyway..... in the end, though I think I'll make a point of not showing any agression if it happens again, just use my horn if it looks like they are going to crash into my car and just not even accknowledge them if I overtake or if they overtake me afterwards.

Now onto what I should do, I dont have any witnesses, I was so shaken up the only thing I could think of doing was getting away from where it all happened. but I do have his registration and a description of him. I dont even really want to take it any further, what I do want to know is if there is some sort of dangerous driving register I could get him on? so if it happens to someone else there is precident of it having happened before and hopefully he will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law though I doubt it. who knows, maybe he has allready on such a list if it exists and todays incident might be enough for him to be taken off the road.
The last part all happened within yards of a red light camera but I dont think it even faces in the direction of where this happened so I dont think it will be of any use.

I'd report him personally, he's a bully, and nearly caused several accidents by driving erratically and with undue care & attention.

One thing though, your first diagram indicates you dont know your left from right and vice-versa?

correct it if you are going to report it as they will dismiss the whole thing on the basis of something like that.

I'd report him, what sort of example is he setting those children? Actually if I am honest I would have been either brawling in the street with him or in a jail cell after running the idiot down

Shame you didn't phone the police from the petrol station. The police could have swabbed the spit for DNA. :/

Re: HELP!! I have just been a victim of road rage

Just a quick pick point, in the opening lines you mean left turn only surely ?

The other point really is van drivers rarely own van's for the fun of it, its likely that they use the vehicle for work puporses, i'd just report it to the police along with the reg number and let them deal with it. They should be able to track down who the owner is, or if its owned by a company to report it to them

Allready been spotted mate, just corrected it now. The van had company names etc all over it I just cant remember them clearly enough now, think it was something like PB builders or something.

Re: HELP!! I have just been a victim of road rage

Definately report it. You can't let people away with driving like that.

Most police officers hate road rage drivers and will be quite happy to give him the big finger wagging talk.
Plus if he realises his time gets wasted with producing horti's and the like he might change his attitude to other drivers.
