Dabs RMA problem
Argh!!
I RMAed two items back in August to Dabs. After a lot of trouble with Amtrak with them missing collections (and myself missing time off work), they eventually picked them both up, in separate boxes, at the same time. The driver said he was only there to pick up one box, but readily agreed to take both. He scribbled on the collection notice and gave it back to me.
Since then, I have had one item refunded, but the other remains "in progress". I contacted the online chat service a few weeks ago and told me to email a scan of my collection notice in. I tried to find the small 3" square piece of paper, but can't find it. I contacted the online chat service again, and was told to email it in.
I have since received this reply:
Quote:
Dear Customer,
Please be advised that the collection was only arranged for 1 parcel and the courier's tracking only shows 1 parcel as being collected.Unfortunately,if you are unable to locate your proof of collection, then we are unable to assist you any further.
Regards
|
Does anyone have any advice on how to take this further? Its over 80 quid. I paid for it on credit card (Natwest), so do a chargeback possibly?
Many thanx in advance.

Re: Dabs RMA problem
Punky - I'm in a similar, but different, position at the moment.
I had a delivery from Sh*tty Link with two parcels on the delivery note. He only gave one to my wife and 'went to look for the other' while she signed. He then said only one in the van and 'the computer says one' but didn't give the wife the chance to amend the delivery note. Now their saying both were delivered!! The missing package was a £30 PC case, probably easily mistaken for 'valuable' complete PC. For some bizarre reason the retailer are choosing to believe the courier over the customer!!
As far as I can see the only remedy is to issue a small claims court action against the supplier (Dabs) as your contract is with them, not the courier. They may back down, but if not the judge has to decide 'on the balance of probability' who is telling the truth.
I hope you prevail!

Re: Dabs RMA problem
Small claims is probably the way to go, send them a letter confirming that you're going to proceed with action if they don't satisfy your demands, give them 7 days to respond and if you still have no joy use moneyclaimonline.gov.uk to open a case.

Re: Dabs RMA problem
Or download the N1 claim form, fill it in and send it in with your notice of intention and see what happens.
Worked for me.
Charge back probably won't work and you're credit card company aren't responsible as it's under £100.

Re: Dabs RMA problem
Thanx for the help guys.
Really hoping it wasn't a small claims court job, as I am not that sorta person. Don't do well in those sorta circumstances. If I fail, can I end up with massive court costs? Knowing me, I will.
Looks like its going to have to be bravado-laced letter threatening court action. Just hope they don't call my bluff

Re: Dabs RMA problem
Send them the completed N1 form - you don't have to go go through with it even if they still refuse - but it should jolly them into it.
As for costs. For the amount you're talking about it'll cost you £30 which you can add to your claim (so you'll get it back if you win) and as it's a small claim they can't claim anything from you for their costs.
I'd stick some money on it not getting that far if you send them a completed N1 form and say they have 14 days until you send it.
Lace it with sentences like "I believe that by offering you one last chance to remedy this issue I'm being as reasonable as possible". If they even go as far as showing this to a solicitor their council will see this sort of language and tell them you know what you're on about. In court it's all about being seen to be reasonable with them.

If you take the "online" bit out
(easy enough to find via google though)
---------- Post added at 14:50 ---------- Previous post was at 14:48 ----------
Also, (in case they try and blame Citylink) inform them that according to the distance selling regulations, the courier they used act as a sub-contractor to them so it's still ultimately DAB's responsibility.

Oh, nice tip mate. I was going to put something along those lines, but as you put it so well, I will borrow (i.e. plagurise) it

Re: Dabs RMA problem
If plugging the offending URL into google is the limit of your attempts to find it then is there really a need for the Come on that's just silly.
Edit - This looks like a good place to start with learning how to use google mate:

Why not just give the correct link in the first place - instead of adding "online" into the url?? Still - never mind! I only spent about 5 seconds on it because I had work stuff to deal with. When I would have had a bit more time, I would have tried searching some more!
BTW - I know how to use Google and most of their services!

Well - no. I just didn't have that moment to go and search properly for it, so I just did a Google search which yielded result above and after that decided that the OP had mis-typed the url, so I thought I'd get it checked...
