Champers!
Alright, before i start, i just want to add that this was a one off, once in a blue moon thing and that i've never even had the stuff before...
Right now that's out of the way, I just wanted to let you know i was down at some (very close) friends at the weekend for their engagement, for which i took down for them a bottle of champs.
I had asked around for what was a good bottle and a few people told me to go get Krug Champagne.
Now depending on where you shop this comes in at around 75 quid (i told you there were really close friends ) but H himself, this stuff is bloody awesome.
I, along with my partner and my friends had a couple of glasses each and you really could feel it hit your head, but the taste really was something else and nothing like any other bubbly i've had before (Tesco's own (not bad either)).
So why am i telling you this - well if your ever up for being a bit extravagant or are celebrating something you can do no wrong with this stuff.

Re: Champers!
TBR.... trust me 75 quids for a bottle of Krug still is quite cheap.
I've had the luxury of drinking a 15 year bottle of Krug at my gran's before....bottle was something like £300 and that was tasty..but yeah rises to yer head pretty fast.
but yeah bubbles are lovely... if you got a nice big bath recommend having a glass with your partner and just chill
btw this topic shouldnt be for under 21's :P they wouldnt respect this stuff
---------- Post added at 22:07 ---------- Previous post was at 22:05 ----------
but TBR there are some nicer makes then Krug even... cant think of it now...but that really sets the balance back a bit.

Well, im away for the weekend with the misses just before Christmas...
Still, im not sure i want to know about more expensive bottles that taste better, that could turn out to be very pricey information.
Akin to buying a copy of What-Hifi, just to see what's out...

Re: Champers!
WaC totally agree there Bolinger is nice not too expensive nor too dear.
Ramrod keep those bottles in the cellar if you got 1 for a couple of years...you'll see the price go up and up and taste as well just store them properly
but yeah those are 2 fine bottles .. what year?

nice moment for champers (normal priced bottle from tesco) is together with the partner in a warm bath or with Salmon on Canape's (ie white bread with the crusts cut off) with some lemon and fresh ground pepper.
okay have to get away from this thread now..getting hungry and thirsty

Can I store champagne in my refrigerator?
It's not recommended to store champagne in the refrigerator for more than a few months. The air in a refrigerator is too dry, and the bottle will be exposed to vibrations as well as the internal light at frequent intervals. However, keeping a bottle in the fridge for a few days or even weeks will not affect the quality of the wine.

I don't like fizzy drinks, so a vsop brandy would, probably, do me , too

Thanks chuck, it's only been in there since the end of September so it should be ok. My fridge is lucky if it's opened twice a day so no danger of the light spoiling it
