"There must be,fifty ways to leave your lover..."
The problem is all inside your head she said to me
The answer is easy if you take it logically
I'd like to help you with your struggle to be free
There must be-fifty ways to leave your lover....
So then, how did you leave your lover? be it ex girlfriend, ex wife or ex boyfriend/husband for that matter?
Did you come over all honest and have a dear john type conversation over the breakfast table and suggest that you keep it amicable and remain friends, or did you just do a Reggie Perrin one day and leave a note on the mantelpiece?
just curious

Once I'd recovered from his 'confession' that family life and the responsibility of 2 children wasn't for him, I waited for the divorce papers and got a tiny house sorted - I moved out and never looked back.
Never been happier either!

My Girlfriend left 2 months ago after suggesting we remain friends. This worked out quite well, we probably get on better now than we did before.

Re: "There must be,fifty ways to leave your lover..."
I remember splitting with my ex-wife. She didn't think I'd divorce her, so I took her out for a bite to eat, and over the table tried to have a heart-to-heart, saying that I was not going to play games... she called my bluff - bad move - I produced the divorce papers. I shall never forget the look on her face. I drove to the solicitors and posted them through the letterbox that night. The ex spent the best part of a year trying to get me to change my mind, but there was no looking back - and like the ladies, I have never been happier.

"Lover" as in "casual ****"? Kicked the first one out, second one died, and the third left for India.

Isn't that taking outsourcing a little too far?
Been with my gf for just over 2 years now, and amazingly she hasn't left me considering what a pain I can be (not that I'm trying to get her to leave me).
Personally, I think it's insanity that keeps her around, she says it's love, but I don't think there's much difference
We actually have a strange thing where when stress gets going, we blow up at each other, talk, or rather rant, that we're splitting up, then the pressure is released and we realise just how much we actually love each other, I'd probably be lost without her.

Done.
As for ways to leave your lover, well, I found going to their house, and telling them they are dumped is blunt, but works (BTW, last time I did that, the lady in question had been cheating on me with someone else who she didn't know I knew about). Usually, I am more polite than that ("sorry, this isn't working", that sort of thing). Also I have been dumped from time to time.
My sister has, on occasion, asked me to get rid of boyfriends. Usually, I just have a quiet word with them and ask them to leave. As I am six foot, and have a large build, they tend to listen.

I have to admit, whenever I dump someone, I generally *try* and keep things amicable (apart from the girl above, I really didn't want to stay in toch with her). I find, however, that it often doesn't work. In fact, there is only one lady I went out with that I am still friends with, and we were never serious.

Re: "There must be,fifty ways to leave your lover..."
Oh just remembered what a colleague in the MoD did to her squaddie boyfriend when she found out the manouvers he was on was actually a 2 week holiday in spain with another woman.
She had a key to his house on the base, flooded his hallway carpet, sprinkled lots of mustard seeds and cranked the central heating right up.
I think he got the message when he came back
