Question 10 things the Govnt don't want you to know about the NHS

I was sent this today. I know some of them have truth about them......

http://www.savehuddersfieldnhs.co.uk/?p=6

What do you think?

Quote:
TEN FACTS THE GOVERNMENT WOULD PREFER YOU NOT TO KNOW

1. NHS prescriptions are free in Wales.

2. There are more doctors from Malawi in Manchester than there are in Malawi

3. Many new treatments are available in Scotland, which are not available yet in England.

4. The companies which built the new PFI hospital in Norwich have just sold on their interest and trousered £81 million of tax payer’s money.

5. Between 25 and 30% of all NHS funds are absorbed by one bit of the health service invoicing another bit for services to treat patients.

6. Elderly people face a lottery if they need long term care; often that decision is not made by the medical professionals, but by social workers.

7. A new set of training protocols for junior doctors (MMC) will lead to under trained consultants and many of our young doctors going abroad, where they will have more opportunities. 8. It costs more than £250,000 to train a doctor in this country.

9. The company which has been given the NHS logistics contract, Novation, is under investigation by the US Senate for overcharging US hospitals.

10.1600 NHS dentists have left the NHS between April and June 2006 4 hours wait in A&E must not be exceeded, Patsy says so. The suits in some hospitals, who monitor this, have come up with a couple of clever little ruses. One is to leave the patients outside in the ambulance, some of them will go paws up before they can be treated. The other is to turn half of A&E into a “Ward” by installing curtains and removing the wheels from trolleys, clever eh!

Do you know what the worst thing is about that? It's all so believable. Expected almost. I hate our govt, I really do. Bunch of morons.

The problem with the NHS is that there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians!

Re: 10 things the Govnt don't want you to know about the NHS

IMO, it's actually Thatcher's government who ballsed up the NHS. Successive governments have just been too weak and/or stupid to correct it. Oh, Bliar et al have called it "PFI" rather than "Privatisation" or the "Internal Market", but it's the same beast, and they haven't corrected the fundamental flaws.

Theres another three pages of info to add to number 9. as your a doctor Salu I would be very worried that NHS Alfreton has been taken over by DHL Novation. It could have serious medical preference implications.

Known about this for ages and I don't see what's wrong with it - it's something the Welsh Assembly have arranged.

The truly disabled get loads of red tape, but an asylum seeker gets disability by default on mental health reasons.

It's no wonder that over 50% of English people want independence from the rest of the U.K. but Scots wanting independence are in the minority

This is not quite accurate. Prescriptions are free for 25s and under, and also I think for pensioners. The assembly want to make them free to everyone at some point (presumably dependent on finances)
