Before I sit on his knee....
.....has Santa been CRB checked Mummy?
They were saying on the radio this morning that you don't need to get a CRB check to employ a Santa as they're not deemed to have "regular" contact with children as they are seasonal. Some were saying that they could never take their kids to see Santa again. Others were saying Santa and Paedophiles have been around a lot longer than CRB checking has and the parents are always present anyway.
Do you think they should be checked? Is this an over reaction of our paranoid culture? Should CRB checking be made mandatory for Santas?

Re: Before I sit on his knee....
As TheDaddy said. They aren't alone with children so the child aren't at risk?
Anyway, given CRB applications are taking upto 9 months and beyond it seems, I don't really see how flooding the system with 100,000 more unnecessary applications can be good or feasible. It would mean having to register a year in advance to do the job.

Sad though it is I have heard a lot of stores are not letting children sit on Santas knee not even for the picture they have to stand at the side of him now.

Re: Before I sit on his knee....
Why would you take your kid to see somebody who isn't the real thing because the real thing does not exist He's probably going to get off on the experiences later, but can't really do much more - always an elf present. Suppose you could have dodgy elves though "Santa and his helper arrested in dawn raid" Hmmm
