The best thing I can suggest is that if you are worried you have liver disease, that you consult your GP.
Quite right too Stuart.

High SGGT is a direct consequence of drinking too much alcohol but isn't of itself an 'issue'.

No-one will diagnose you with liver disease based on a single blood test - go see your doctor.

I'm not advertising it but Liv52 seems to work well for me - wouldn't get it from there mind you.

It's a supplement, along with Milk Thistle and Alpha Lipoic Acid, that people taking hepatotoxic drugs use to reduce liver strain.
What dosage do you take for the liv52?

Cheers

I have been getting blood taken for the last three months. My Gamma GT level has been around 180 but all other test results are within normal limits. Had scans and MRI but nothing found. Dont drink (2-3 pints per week max) and am only 1/2 stone over the normal weight for my height. Have good diet and a reasonable amount of excersise. My Doc is good and keeps trying new tests for unusual causes but todate nothing has been found.
Will keep you posted if I get a result.

Re: My Gamma GT levels are 120! And I don't drink alcohol.

I am getting the same results too. Consistantly high GAMMA GT over 20 years. I am a 43 year old man and have been recording 90 as a constant. The range should be zero to 60 so why am I so high? I do drink but am no alcoholic. I am a bit overweight 13 stone and should really be 11.5 to 12 stone. But tests are showing nothing> I had a gelly on the belly test too.. Its the ultrasound test. They found nothing. Nurses said the only way to see if it will drop down is to go tee total for a year. So my thoughts are no way. But the shock comment was that she said there are MANY people who run high Gamma GT and its a natural thing. So maybe its a worry over nothing. Hmmm
