I would like to do one in Technology industry such as

Does anyone have any ideas or other suggestions for other companies?

Re: Apprenticeships
there are many companies nowadays that work on behalf of bigger companies - for example my fiance works for ma/com but they are part of tyco... Have a good look around this website which I often find easier to use than the actual jobcentreplus site - direct.gov.uk

Re: Apprenticeships
When i did my apprenticeship you had to decide what trade you wanted to do it in first rather than for what company. "Technology industry" sounds to me like you don't actually know what skills you want to learn.

First, I would decide what you actually want to do. BT, Sky and NTL are all good tech companies to work for, but they all cover a huge range of areas. I mean, do you want to work in programming? If so, which area (web design, systems, embedded software). Do you want to go into networking? If so, which area (Telecoms, cable, Ethernet, Satellite)?
That is just a small area of the technology used by those companies. Each of the examples I names all use differing technologies, and massively different skills. For instance, I have a degree in Software Engineering (Programming, basically) and am Cisco qualified for networking (CCNA), but wouldn't have a clue to start with Satellite comms.
Decide which area you want to go for, then decide on a company that offers that.

You'd have to work for Kellys who pay nothing wages wise.

Re: Apprenticeships
But then most national apprentice schemes pay next to nothing anyway...

Re: Apprenticeships
I would be happy to do an apprenticeship for £80 a week or whatever it is, but I'm too old!
