Stay with t-mobile - or not?

I'm looking to upgrade my phone to a Vario / SDA - tmobile will give it to me for 70 quid, if I move over to O2, I can get it somewhere between free and 30 quid...

Ignoring the cost issues - has anyone got any reasons why I should favour one over the other - i.e. does O2 have a better service and so on?

Re: Stay with t-mobile - or not?

I found O2 coverage to be poor, much better on T Mobile, but I suppose where you live and use the phone will influence that.

I find the coverage to be equal up here in Yorkshire, although i do like the deals some of the O2 shops will give you just for being inquisitive. (Extra few quid credit if you ask if there's anything else they can throw in on a bundle. Although i bet a fair few places are like this)

Customer support for O2 for me has always been excellent, like the month my free texts didn't fully appear. Admittedly i only noticed after 20 texts, and then it eating my credit. They did refund the credit and give me a full 300 texts back within a minute of explaining the problem.

What i'm saying is, O2 customer service has always been a great experience for me.
T-Mobile coverage is good, having used Virgin that piggy-back on their network. Never had any customer services from T-Mobile themselves though.

O2 all the way for me mate, I've been with Tmobile and O2 and O2 comes out tops all the time, their CS is 2nd to none, UK based in Leeds, everytime I've phoned them up I've had cracking service, I'm on contract and my bill for 500 minutes and 500 texts is £20 per month.

Re: Stay with t-mobile - or not?

Never used O2.

I'm looking at joining T-mobile from orange.

I fancy an MDA Vario II with web 'n' walk

With orange at the moment..

Anyone got web 'n' walk?

Re: Stay with t-mobile - or not?

One suggestion, mention to T-mobile about the price elsewhere, I disagreed with a price orange offered me an SPV M3100 for, (£150) and got the phone for free.

Yeah, done that - it knocked it down from 170 to 70...

Re: Stay with t-mobile - or not?

then it's simple "O2 will give me the phone for free, match it or I change networks"

Re: Stay with t-mobile - or not?

As mentioned... T-mobile offer web n' walk, which is unlimited web browsing (excluding VOIP) for £7 a month. Not bad. Especially as you are buying a XDA device. I don't know what the O2 web usage charges are, but they could mount up if they aren't fixed.

i have to agree they are over the top, GPRS has always been expensive, unless you were lucky with orange's glitch, they charged £1 for limited usage then forgot to charge them after a specfic time

I'm on a 200 min tarrif with o2 that includes (so they say) a mear 100k included data usage. I got this tarrif when I got my xda 2. I have since upgraded that to a sony k750i and then that to a xda mini 2 s. At all times I have never seen any data charges despite some quite high usage. I looged into outlook web access on the pc we took to a congerence several times over the 3 days and also used internet explorere and msn but still no data charge's :-).

For comparison since I have a o2 xda min 2 s and I have just configured 2 t-mobile vario 2 for my boss's.

XDA - 1.3 mp camera, 2g, gprs, bluetooth, wi-fi - mini sd

vario 2 - 2.o mp camera, smaller, 3g (with extra camera for video calls), gprs, bluetooth, wi fi - transflash

Vario 2 will be my next phone after seeing it :-)
