New camera suggestion?
Hello!
i think i'll be getting a new camera soon, but i need to pick one out, somewhere in the $300-$500 price range and not one of the point and shoots or even the medium sized cameras, something along the lines of the Canon Powershot S3 IS, but apparently that camera's pictures have a lot of noise, anyways, can anyone give me a good suggestion? and perhaps a specific suggestion instead of just "oh, a olympus camera is good!", like, an actual camera name, i'm no good at sorting through all the cameras every company has, i get lost and don't know what i'm doing, haha, so any good suggestions? thankee very much!

Re: New camera suggestion?
I was planning to buy the S3 IS for Christmas. Best price I found was about £275.
For recommendations, I usually visit Steve's Digicams - the S3 comes out pretty well there and you can see sample pictures to judge if there's any noise.

Re: New camera suggestion?
I have an S2IS, and I'm very happy with it. I've never noticed any noise.
If you want to see some sample pictures, PM me your email address.

Re: New camera suggestion?
Increase the spend a touch and get the Hasselblad H3D-39
It's more than you initially wanted to spend, but it's the best on the market, you would be surprised how much you can zoom in before pixelation, and it's a reputable professional brand.

S3IS Highly recommended : I bought this 5/6 months back and it's a top of the range amateur point n shoot and from my experience even touches the semi-pro arena.
Very good optical zoom for a camera as cheap as this. Bad points max shutter speed is 15seconds grrrrr can't really do artistic nightshots.
But that was 6 months and 6 months is a long time so dont know whats the best now.
I used www.dpreview.com for making up my mind.
Find attached my first days pics.
[edit]
soz original is too big and the compressed version is poor.
