Windows Gasket

Hello All.
I purchased a house a while ago and it had windows - thats the good bit.

they are double glazzed but they are rubbish a bit mouldy round the outside and the filler is mouldy and coming away and they let in a draft and when the wind blows in certain directions my windows make a loud whistling noise that keeps me awake.

So im not happy and too skint to afford new windows. So i happened to see a man fitting some windows across the road so i slipped him a tenner and said HELP ME ..he said he couldnt do much they were naff windows but to sort out some of the problems i should get a new Thicker gasket (the rubbery bit that goes round the windows so they seal better (it just clips into a groove around the windows so its easy to do)

Now im not expert but buying a new gasket seems impossible anyone in the trade and can A: offer me super cheap good windows or B tell me where to go to see some new glaskets i was going to take my current one along and just ask for a thicker one.

Any help would be great.

Would be a good idea to take the gasket with you. There are all sorts of sizes and profiles.

Other option - and you have to be careful or it looks naff, - flexible clear silicone sealer - carefully bead it round the windows, or pull the original gasket and use coloured sealer so it looks like the original.

Unless you mean the gasket round the opener section, at which point the opener should be adjustable to take up the slack, though a new gasket wouldn't be a bad idea

yeah i thought my wndows would be adjustable and just needed tightning but i cant see how to do it nor could the man who had a quick look.
i may call the people who i got the house from and see if they remember who they purchased the windows from and see if they can help

Thanks for the link! currently i got some tape over certain bits to keep the winter chill off my g/f

hopefully i can find a shop local that sells some i can take down a sample .

Thicker gasket?
Surely you need a thicker pane unit?
Back when I had my own house in a lovely area, I had most of the windows smashed, so replaced them just by getting new pane units, just have to make sure they're made thick enough for a tight fit
