neighbours from hell again
I posted a long while ago about some problems my parents were having with the neighbours, they had neighbours moved in next door who were nice and friendly and my parents were willing to help them if required and even looked after the kid each afternoon when dropped off by the child minder. My parents would entertain the child and usually feed the child, not once did the parents ever bother to offer any money or buy a gift as a thankyou. The happy cosy little family they tried to portray seemed to crack at the seems, my parents would get annoyed because they would clear off for the week and not bother to feed the cat or rabbit and my parents started to get annoyed when they began taking liberties. One day the school phoned up my parents because the daughter was ill and their names were down as next of kin, that may sound like something and nothing but it was just something in a long line of something and nothings where they were taking advantage.
The husband is a professor and they seem to be into lots of charity work, they attend one of the local churches and have BBQ's and parties sometimes in the sheep dip (sorry I mean hot tub) at their house, they seem to like networking and try to give the impression they are nice cosy friendly people. When they get home from church on a Sunday they usually start arguing from mid day to mid night, and I have been there hearing him shouting and her having hold of him by the throat against the wall. I heard him shouting that he wanted to be 'Sectioned' and ranting and raving etc.
The final straw was the neighbours sided up with the drug dealers opposite, they are do-gooders and used the excuse that they are doing no harm and they didn't want to upset the dealers because of their daughter. The incident happened after they had gone away for a fortnight and asked my parents to keep an eye on their house, but my parents didn't realise they had also told the drug dealers they could park in their driveway.
One evening the next door neighbour came home and was unable to park the car outside his own house, due to his frustration he rammed a car belonging to a friend of my parents, it was parked outside the driveway of my parents and not in front of his house, he knew who's car it was (young female) and was obviously too spineless to ram the dealers car that was blocking his driveway. On the next occassion he arrived home and couldn't park again because someone at the dealers house was blocking his drive, he had to park down the road, he walked back up the road passed his house to get to my parents and scratched my fathers car. The next day when confronted he grabbed hold of my father by the throat, despite the neighbour being about 15 years younger x amount heavier and a black belt he came off much the worse in the scuffle. The police arrived and he claimed my father attacked him but fortunately there were a couple of independant witnesses who gave the police the true story.
The police then tried to interview him for the next few weeks but he seemed to of dissapeared, when they eventually caught up with him and arrested him his solicitor had come up with a story about his absense and the claim that the damage was done "Accidently" even though the police who attended the incident were quite happy about the CCTV evidence at the time.
The latest incident happened on the weekend, my parents had their regular Sunday night visitor who parked on my parents driveway. When she went to leave there was a car blocking the driveway and the neighbour the other side informed my parents that it was at the house of the "professor" my mother went down to their house to ask for the car to be removed, only to be greeted with a torrent of abuse. The shocked visitors (probably church friends) rushed out to move the car and in fact drove off, later on in the evening the neighbour can be seen leaving his house with a ba in his hand and about 15 mins later just out of view of my parents CCTV camera a tin of White emulsion paint is thrown over my parents car.
The latest police to visit my parents were shocked when shown the previous incident on CCTV where he was allowed to get away with scratching the car, and were also interested to hear that his wife comes home late from work on a friday and is often dropping the keys as she comes down the path and has trouble picking them up. (pi**ed)
My mother has pleaded with me not to do anything, in fact the guy usually rushes in the house if I'm about because he knows I'm a bit younger and fitter than my old man and after experiencing what my old man was capable of when he grabbed his throat... well enough said.
It's unfortunate that they didn't have a party in the hot tub last night, I would of probably gone around and pi**ed in it whilst they were in it. For a professor who has books published and white papers online he has no sense, he must surely realise that something is going to happen to him soon. I had asked my father to phone me yesterday if they started their usual sunday arguments, because I was hoping he would get into enough of a rage to actually come out and face me.
I wonder if the church or his employer (large accountancy firm) would be interested in his conduct, I even wonder if his company knows he was bound over to keep the peace over the car scratching incident. It just goes to show that people are not always as they appear at face value.

Re: neighbours from hell again
I am really sorry to hear about the problems your parents are having, we all have the right to live peacefully in our homes and I am disgusted that your parents are being treated this way. The only thing you can keep doing is reporting them to the police and hopefully in time your parents and there visitors will be left alone or the couple will move.

Re: neighbours from hell again
Next time he or one of his friends blocks your parents drive, phone the police.
Blocking access is an offence and the police can and will tow the offending vehicle away.
Other than that, grass the dealers up and give his name and address.
Should sort it out nicely.

But in the real world this doesn't happen, the police are not interested in someone blocking your drive around here and will certainly not tow it away.
The dealers are well known to the police, but nothing seems to be done.

Re: neighbours from hell again
Sorry to hear about your ongoing problems.
I would suggest writing to your MP or council and seeing if they could possibly help too.
Whatever you do, keep CCTV foootage and photos as evidence.
I hope you get it sorted out soon.

Re: neighbours from hell again
It makes me so angry when i read stuff like this
I HATE people who think they have a right to make others feel uncomfortable in their own homes, i'm having problems myself and it's a bad situation when you have to get away from your own home to get some peace and quiet.
Hope they get whats coming to them soon enough.

Re: neighbours from hell again
The really sad part is that it's the people who get harrased that usually end up having to move

Actually these neighbours did put their house up for sale when he got bound over to keep the peace earlier this year, but unfortunately they couldn't get a buyer due to the silly asking price.
The part that really annoys me is he tries to come across as a nice bloke, and obviously uses the fact that he is such an inteliigent person and respected in the church and masons etc, I'm sure that must of been the reason for him getting off when caught on camera.
The latest copper who my parents showed the original incident was amazed that he got away with it, however he is currently having a lot of payback that I dare not mention here. The problem he is getting right now will cost a lot more than the paint damage to my fathers vehicle cost, he will be the one sorry at the end of this.

Not for what I have done, because it is impossible to prove although very costly.
I am trying to antagonise the guy to argue with me, although I doubt it very much. Any reports I have made about him so far have always included my name for it to get back to him.

Re: neighbours from hell again
It looks pretty obvious that the guy has a mental health problem. I know it's difficult to be sympathetic when you're suffering the consequences, but I would not assume he is evil, just unstable. People who need help often act in very inappropriate ways. Just a thought.

The police will tow away a car if it's blocking you from getting out.....
Had this problem last year : Because I was either not living at home or would just come back and crash for a couple of hours usually around the 3am mark...
Because my drive was empty all day some new residents (I believe they were renting down the road) thought it would be ok to park in front of my drive.
I thought nothing of it but it went on for a few nights and when you're knacked after driving 250miles a day to and from work it's the last thing you want to see.
So rang the police and they said the same thing but gave me a tip. Bobby says if this ' If it happens again you've got enough space to bring your car up onto the drive then call us and we'll tow the obstructing car away'.
You see they'll tow it away if you're blocked from getting out of drive but not if it's blocking you getting in.
Anyway I just left a note on his windscreen - problem solved - and actually saw him a few days later and everything was cool.

Re: neighbours from hell again
I would alter the position of the camera, or add a second hidden one.
If he throws paint just out of shot he may know the cameras view.
Then when you have sufficient evidence contact the police and your local MP.
