geeting rid of bad smells
A mouse or mice has died (RIP) beneath a new wooden floor in my bedroom and bathroom. The smell is awful. I'd post a sample but these spoilsport admin people here would ban it.
Anyone any bright ideas (humorous or otherwise) as to how to get rid of the smell? Have I to rip up the wooden floor?

Afraid so, if you want to be rid of the smell for good.
In the short term, have you tried that Oust stuff that's being flogged to death on the telly at the moment? It's not bad at getting rid of a strong curry smell - not sure if that's on a par with your current problem, though.

I think it only takes a few weeks for a mouse to fully decompose so if you can hold on, you might not have to rip the floor up at all

In addition to the Oust get one of those plug in ones with a lavender smell which will help you sleep dispite the smell

Don't read this if you're eating your lunch
You could try just sealing any gaps in the floor to keep the smell at bay until it's rotted (will avoid a fly problem, too). BUT... if it's damp enough the mouse will liquify and give you a nasty brown stain on the ceiling below.
Mice die in our loft sometimes, but it's so dry up there they just dehydrate instead of rotting.

So - what action (if any) have you decided to take? Might come in handy for the rest of us, as it's this time of year the little blighters start to come indoors.

Re: geeting rid of bad smells
About 200 of the little feckers turned up for the funeral of the first mouse. By the time I'd made them all tea and sandwiches, the smell was unbearable.
So I went and got some ordinary commoner garden air freshner, and sprayed it through the cracks in the floor. Now I'm gonna hold my nose and wait until it passes. I've not tried to buy the product that the kind chaps mentioned. Too busy.
