Tom Tom Sat Nav
Greetings Earthlings, I promised myself that when I passed my driving test, I would buy myself a Satellite Navigation System. I've just been up to Comet and purchased a "Tom Tom One Great Britain"
One of these: http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/p....do?sku=353558
I shall let you know how I find this device in use as I use it!
So far so good, I decided to try and confuse it, I drove down my road away from my house and then Tapped the screen and Set the Destination to "Home". It told me to turn left at the end of the road, so far, so good, it was gonna take me around in a loop, then I decided to attempt to confuse it by then turning right and driving round the back roads and missing loads of turnings, each time I did, it rectified the problem by giving me a new route.
Good stuff

Re: Tom Tom Sat Nav
I'd suggest you pay attention to the road in front of you, rather than attending to "beat the gadget"
But these things are getting better and better. Might be tempted too one day.

Re: Tom Tom Sat Nav
I've been a TT owner since the original was released a few years ago...that model is now called the "Classic". I now own a 910.
Want some advice? Back it up before doing ANYTHIG else. Then back it up again and copy that backup to CD / DVD. Backup EVERYTHING including maps before attempting to tinker with anything!
Dod you get an old ONE or the new ONE?

Re: Tom Tom Sat Nav
I've thought about getting one - but i can get pretty much anywhere in Nottingham unaided (without a map) and know roughly how to get to most places in the country anyway.
I'd probably only get one for the electronic map, they'd annoy me anyway if I wanted to go a different way to the sat nav.

Re: Tom Tom Sat Nav
@nffc They constantly re route so if you take a more direct say to cut across town then it re does the directions and still gets you there.
Best thing for me is using it to get back out of places like the trafford centre and metro centre which can be confusing as hell, it makes sure you in the right lane etc.

What is the Code Card for? I've just put a 4 digit password on the unit

I'd probably really only use it for local directions in a place I've not been to before - but then, I could always use multimap or a street atlas.
And some of the local routes I use, well it would probably baffle the sat nav.

The code card is the activation code for your maps...should be a credit-card style card with raised digits?

Ahhh - the age old issue of price vs features...I suppose you are still hanging on for something better than DVD to come along....hold on - there's HD DVD and BluRay. But you just never know - they are probably working on the replacement for those as well!
