The price of meat
Just flicking through the TV channels and landed on QVC. Currently on air is a pack of 10 x 170g fillet steaks for £95.40 + £5.95 p&P.

Re: The price of meat
More details here
QVC price is about £15.20 kg although the Sainsblurrys Taste the difference steaks are from 14.99 for Rump to 29.99 for fillet (not so bad on price after all) too rich for my pocket though.

Morning Saxo
Yup P&P is becomming increasingly scary, especially when you get charges like £50 for delivery and set up of a bed when it is the manufacturer who is doing the delivery anyway.

Re: The price of meat
I tend to annoy people in department stores by fighting over the cost of delivery.
I do not see when I am paying over the odds for something why I should then be gouged for stupid delivery prices, my cooker was £139, and currys wanted £16 to deliver.
They did not get the £16

Re: The price of meat
For that sort of money I'm sure your local butcher could provide you with a half cow...I'm all in favour for using local providers

Re: The price of meat
I was watching that as well last night and they said if you went to a restaurant and got it as part of a meal the meal would be about £85, sorry no way am I paying that sort of money no matter how good the meat is!

Re: The price of meat
just had a look through Angua's link, wow 2KG of meat cost over £50.
i could finish them all off in an hour (one meal) so that's well expensive. and i would probably stick with the 'buy a whole cow' idea

Re: The price of meat
Let's not forget the TSV price. It (apparently) would normally cost you £60.50p + p&p!
I actually saw that item this morning and i felt sick by the presentation! When i cut my meat, i don't want it to bleed all over the plate (yeuchh!)
I can get a frozen food hamper from Park at a nicer price
