Suicide bridge
Quote:

So many bodies have fallen from the sky into Juliet Shreve's neighborhood that she can't remember specifics. They blend together into one limp, anonymous figure. "They never came one after another," she says. "They'd always catch you by surprise."

Re: Suicide bridge
I am sorry but no matter how many "bodies" landed in my garden I would remember each and every one of them!

Re: Suicide bridge
I thought you meant this bridge for a moment:
It is well known as suicide bridge. Its over Archway Road, North London. Infamous for suicides.

Re: Suicide bridge
The Erskine Bridge over the Clyde in Glasgow was notorious for people jumping off it. The only problem was the bridge is so long they would only walk part way thus not hitting the Clyde but peoples gardens below. SO the people complained and eventually a high fence was erected so that people had to walk further to kill themselves.

Um, if they were putting a high fence along so people couldn't jump, wouldn't it have been better to have it going all the way along so the bridge couldn't be used to commit suicide?
Or is suicide a service that Glasgow Council are now providing?

Re: Suicide bridge
Well if it's the Council that did it, either the budget ran out, they measured it wrong, or they're coming back to finish it. One day

Re: Suicide bridge
I used to live in Bristol, not far from the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Due to weaknesses in the rocks of the Avon Gorge it was necessary for them to build a concrete "tunnel" along the Portway (the road that leads along the gorge under the bridge).
The local (grim) humour was that it was actually there to stop the falling bodies from causing traffic congestion...
