Cctv
Given the events I've mentioned in other threads, involving my mad neighbour - I've decided it's time to get some CCTV.
I don't want to spend a fortune...
I'm trying to work out what the best options are....
What I want is something that will connect up to the pc - one way or another, so that I can use the motion detection functions - I don't want to be recording to tape 24/7.
Having had a look at ebay, would I be better off getting something like this :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...988021484&rd=1
and then getting a camera (or 2) - if so what cameras would people recommend? The camera is most likely to be indoors on the window sill - watching the front door / driveway (though I may stick it out side) - how easy is it to extend the cables so that I can connect it to the pc card (15/20 meters away).
Or would I be better off just getting something like this :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...221995273&rd=1

Re: Cctv
i would be tempted to get a webcam and an extra long USB ext cable.
Then get some motion software
as a cheap option i might add...

I think the usb cables can only go so far - something like 5 meters I think - and then you start needing boosters, and it's not cheap at that point.

Don't want to spoil things but with CCTV you need to avoid invading your neighbour's privacy such as images of the main entrance etc, your neighbour could bring an action against you.

The shopping channels seem to have them on a lot of the time complete with monitors for under £50

I'm actually looking to catch the neighbour on my property, not their own - if they stuck to their own there wouldn't be a problem

i have a camera outside in a small dome.

Yeah, because she does random things at random times during the day, I really need something more flexible than straight recording...
Looks like an IP camera might be the way then
