glasses/etc
One for the opticians/people with glasses I guess. Anyway, with my eye checkup coming up on Thursday, I dug around for my appointment card and unearthed a prescription card from last year. Anyway the box for "prescription issued" has been ticked, and it says the following:
Sphere Right +0.25
Sphere Left +0.25
Should I have had glasses a year ago and not known about it? And what is all this sphere business about?

Re: glasses/etc
Isn't Sphere another word for eyeball?

Re: glasses/etc
Got nothing like that on my glasses prescription.
Given that the reading glasses on sale at chemists start at +1.25 I would suspect you are OK.

I got my first pair of glasses when my eyes were something like -.75, they were useful for reading the blackboard/overheads when sitting in the back of a lecture theatre, but not really needed in day to day life. I'd say there is no need for you to get glasses (presuming your eyes have not changed much).

prescription eye sphere

Re: glasses/etc
Your optician should have advised you if you needed glasses last year. Being +25 doesn't sound like a major problem but, obviously, it could get worse as time goes on.
My optician actually recommended that I didn't visit every year - is there any reason why you're going now? I was told that, unless you were having serious difficulty, an eye test was only needed every 2 years.

Re: glasses/etc
done a double check! my sphere is R -3.00 L -4.25 I have astigmatism (non round irises) in both eyes and am generally short sighted so I would say you are so borderline normal/long sited they have not suggested glasses.

Re: glasses/etc
0.25 is nothing... in fact, hardly worth having unless your eyes get worse (IMH (unqualified) O)

yeah, mother has some obscure eye condition that doesn't have a name yet, so i have to go every 12 months to make sure i aren't inheriting it yet, so i get tested at the same time

Even that is a little over the top imo. I went 7 years without an eye check. I went in because my glasses were falling apart, to find my presecription was unchanged. Having said that, I believe Alan Melon is an optician, so he will probably be able to give considered advise.
