CD Stuck In Stereo !

I seem to have got a CD stuck in my car stereo

Its a CD6000 (single) in a Ford Galaxy (X Reg). Any ideas ? Eject and play both come up blanks. Should I just take to a Halfords or local garage and see what they say ??

Re: CD Stuck In Stereo !

I would take it to someone that can get the unit out of the car as it might be the only way to release it.

Think they put Ford branded CD units into a lot of their cars
So it would probably be a Ford CD6000

Re: CD Stuck In Stereo !

Is there a reset button on the front or back, this normally puts the CD into eject mode first.

If not the disk has probably loaded incorrectly, go to a local car audio place and ask them, they may have seen the problem before.

Thats my second option.

I think I have some Ford warranty from when I bought it, so going to investigate that first.

Thanks all.

Re: CD Stuck In Stereo !

The local ford garage will have a pair of ford radio removers, they look like bent coat hanger wires to poke into the holes either side.
(can be handy to purchase or make your own)
In fact I have used just that before, or 4 small screwdrivers, pushed outwards & then pull the unit via the tape slot out.

Then you may be able to remove the top cover, but it will likely take some going at with pliers etc.

a word of warning though, if you remove the ower plug you will have to re-enter the code.

if you have that it's easy, if not I have a program that will decipher it from your radio serial no.

Altogether, if it's within warranty might be best to get the dealer to look at it, when you do ask what's going to happen if it does it again?

Doesn't it have a small hole like PC CD players where you can push an unbent paperclip in to push the drive tray out?

Some of them don't have trays at all, you just slide the disk into a slot.

Re: CD Stuck In Stereo !

Make sure the unit is powered off.

Get some needle nose pliers and slide then in the centre of the entry slot slightly open. Grasp the CD in the needle nosed pliers and pull at an angle. If it does not pop out then you can also remove the pliers and switch it on and press eject, your CD should be safe in your hands

Unless you units 100% knackered then you will need to see a Ford Dealer.

Hope this helps

Talking Re: CD Stuck In Stereo !

ask your nearest hoodie covered yob, he will be able to whip it out in seconds, and rewire the car to boot.

it will most likely too far into the player to grab it , get the unit out and remmove the job ( you may need a very small torx screwdriver to remove the top ) it should then be a simple job to get it out ( from experience ) , good luck

Re: CD Stuck In Stereo !

Thanks for all the info.

However, I have tonight tried to insert a CD - and it worked. So it appears there is not a CD in there after all.

The problem seemed to be a stuck CD yesterday after I could not get a CD in.

Anyway, sorry for wasting time...........much for me.
