90p a litre!!
Now, I'm not normally one to moan about such things, but I've just been to get some petrol and we're now at 89.9p a litre! So let's call a spade a spade, that's 90p!
A BP service station in Peterborough next to a Sainsbury's and a Boots, if anyone's interested.
Is it just me, or is it getting rediculous?

Re: 90p a litre!!
well the price of crude is getting higher and higher so no its not a shock, oil is getting more expensive on the markets so the consumer has to pay the offset.
on a side note:
are diesel cars more fuel efficient ? ive been told pertol cars give you less mileage.

Re: 90p a litre!!
This is how to get petrol down, don't buy from the petrol making companies (BP,SHELL,ESSO) only buy from the indepentant suppliers and shops (TESCO,ASDA,SAINSBURY).
this will enable them to drop prices forcing the big names to follow suit to sell the stuff.
Just not buy petrol just cuts you're own throat

Re: 90p a litre!!
Those prices only just getting to you. Think yourself lucky. Prices are over the 90p a litre already here including diesel. Avoid West Oxfordshire for fuel.

I dont think it will make a huge difference, something like 80% of the cost goes to the government. Just to cheer you up a bit more, you are paying for it out of money they could of taxed you upto 40%.
So, they could have already had 40p of your pound before you buy the fuel, then they get about another 48 pence when you fill up in VAT and tax.
reality is every pound before tax you spend on fuel sees 88 pence going to the government for a 40% taxpayer and 62 pence for 22% tax payers.

Re: 90p a litre!!
Was quite suprised, over the past few weeks, particularly at shell garages, prices were falling (lowest I saw near me was 80.9p at a shell near the centre of luton) and then filled up the other day greeted with 88p .

Re: 90p a litre!!
Well maybe the higher prices will make us think twice about our cars and urge us to look for alternatives such as car sharing for example (or maybe walking but I appreciate that's quite radical). The amount of cars I see with just one person in is quite sickening really. Why do we feel that when we travel anywhere we have to drag a ton of metal round with us?
BTW, I did hear a discussion on the radio the other day and a commentator suggested that even though fuel prices are high we are actually spending a lower proportion of our income on fuel as average incomes have risen more than petrol prices. So the at the pump price may seem very high but is not so bad when considered like this.
