Yes Car Credit - warning

I've just come back from the Newport branch with a friend who has had a car from them.

You may have seen the adverts for them, they all but promise car finance to anyone so I was curious to find out how they operate.

First of all, you can't just turn up and browse, you need to be accepted for credit first which they arrange over the phone, then they invite you to come. You need to bring your ID and deposit.

They check your paperwork and ask you what kind of car you're looking for (small, medium, large, petrol/diesel, manual/automatic) and while they sort out business with the finance company, you can have a look at the cars.

The first thing which got the alarm bells ringing was the fact that the cars don't have any prices on them. As I said, it's not a conventional arrangement. The salesperson came back and told him the finance people will allow him up to £180 per month for a car. We couldn't quite figure this out but as it transpires, each car is marked according to monthly repayment and this is NOT open to negotiation under any circumstances.

He was given a list of cars they would finance him on - all 3 of them however with a £200 deposit he was offered another 4. None of them IMO were anything special. Despite my warnings he signed a deal and now has a Y reg Ka, and paying £177 per month for the privilage.

These people prey on the vunerable IMO. My mate has 2 CCJs and can't go anywhere else for car finance and has now been tied in to what I consider to be an extortionate deal.

My advice: avoid Yes Car Credit at all costs.

Re: Yes Car Credit - warning

I made the mistake of applying to Yes before i bought my new car... merely expressed an interest through their website and they have been badgering me with phonecalls and mail weekly every since....

despite the fact i have told them many many times i have already bought a car

last phone call i demanded to speak to a supervisor who had the authority to stop the phone calls.... call centre monkey hung up on me and i haven't heard anything since....

Re: Yes Car Credit - warning

there was an undercover programme on TV about them.

they are cowboys, the credit agreements are OTT, they didn't safety check cars, and refused to take back naff cars.

Re: Yes Car Credit - warning

Yes - I remember seeing a programme on TV recently about them. An undercover reporter was sent in, it's the usual story where the sales people have to make so many sales per week to keep their jobs - and if they don't they are out! And on the TV ads they tell you if you are not happy with the car within a certain period, just return the car and it's all ok? No, they will do ANYTHING to get you to keep the car and will not take it back and cancel the agreement as they say they will! So yes, I'd agree with the general concensus of opinion on here - don't go there!
My friend also went for a job with them (as a sales supervisor) and she passed all their criteria - but was very worried about the tactics they use and didn't take up their job offer in the end.
PS I know I'd seen a programme about it - check here for details!

Therein lies the deception - they give the impression that you can return the car and end the agreement: not so.

You can exchange it for another - but not end the agreement.

Re: Yes Car Credit - warning

Surely the Consumer Credit Act "cooling off period" covers return within X number of days (have taken my law books back home now so can't check...) but i can't imagine how Yes Car Credit could exclude this from the contract.

Re: Yes Car Credit - warning

See sadly we had to go to them as we had a an IVA so at the time we did not have much choice. At the time we got a T reg Rover as it was only 2 yrs old. We still have it now but we do not use it, as I found out to my terror I was driving to work and I found the driver seat to be a bit lose only to find that when I got out of the car I could totally move the seat and a bolt in the foot well, I rang them up and told them the problem at the time but they refused to do anything, so I did the usual threats and then told them that it would go to the police as it was an unsafe road vehicle, they soon bent over backwards and told me that there was no need to go there. After I refused to drive the car, we would never recomend anyone to go there, we were getting pestered by them untill I told them to go and play with trains or go and play on the motorway. I could cry as I know for a fact we have been well and truly ripped off by these people, they seem to pray on the ones who have problems ,they may as well have suckers are us above the door!!!!

Re: Yes Car Credit - warning

My partner used to work for a company called welcome finance.
And from this we learnt a lot about credit companies such as yes car credit.

Basically my advice is if you cant get Credit througha high street bank or conventional loan company then dont. Simple as that.
No matter how much you may think you need the car or whatever, remember what your getting into.

Re: Yes Car Credit - warning

YES car credit are a trading name of Direct Auto Finance (D.A.F.) who had an atrocious reputation before adopting a new trading name. Don't use them...simple.

Re: Yes Car Credit - warning

Oh dear - I've just been looking and found this site, full of complaints about this company! Some rude words in there so beware. But no one had a good word to say about them - indeed a quick Google for Yes Car Credit finds nothing but complaints!
