Engine oil treatment

Hi all I need some engine oil treatment for my Taxi, I do around 30,000 miles per year, I've looked at Slick 50 and STP oil treatments but they don't look that good. A few months ago a guy was showing some on QVC I forget the name of it now.

Have a look on the qvcweb site. There's a couple of products on there:

Re: Engine oil treatment

I bought the Zx1 off QVC few years ago. Appeared to make a difference to performance and noticed the MPG increased slightly.

Re: Engine oil treatment

ZX is absolutely ossum IMO, whenever I get a new car it's the first thing I buy for it and have done for almost 10 years now.

Re: Engine oil treatment

With what it costs & how much you use I would have thought it better to just put the money away for a replacement engine when yours fails eventually. ?

Re: Engine oil treatment

Nah - £16 for a treatment which lasts 25,000 miles? Great VFM if you ask me.

Are you SURE you want to add additives, to oils that should already have as much as they need.

The collected opinion seems to be that they MAY add performance, but whatever "active" material they have is at creater risk of clogging where it's not needed. The resulting oil starvation can increase wear rather than reduce it.

The "oil drained" test is sheer bunk! - enough oil stays where it's needed, to last quite a while, and oils such as Castrol GTX Magnatec are designed to hang on when their needed - oil is drawn into areas of near contact.

The "build" from the solids can quieten an already worn engine.

What is "synthetic fluid" technology ? Is it something that you think is a fluid but is in fact a solid or is it a solid which thinks it is a fluid or is it bull****

Re: Engine oil treatment

synthetics are "not of natural origin"... so you can get solid and liquid and gas and plasma synthetics...

it basically means that it is an artificial product; EG WD40 is synthetic oil...
