Unhappy Redundancy

Oh well I've just been told that I'm at risk of redundancy. (as well as 89 others)

I'm in a pool of two (me and my boss) and one of us is going.

I don't do much, (Safety Rep, Fire Marshal, Company Safety Committee, Quality Stamp Custodian, & Company Chemical database) on top of my day job. The latter 2 only I do.

Last year 98 were made redundant. I then had a 1 in 3 chance.

The package being discussed by my union is £2500 less than last year.

I can't say who I work for for legal reasons.

Re: Redundancy

Do you enjoy your job ? were you thinking of a change ? I'd look upon this as an oppotunity rather than something bad.

I'd also ask through the redunancy reps why the package being offered is less than last year (especially £2500 less).

I've been through the redundancy threats and eventually took volentary rather than go to Scotland.

Much happier now though!

Today it happened I was made redundant

I feel totally gutted, and only got my holiday to look forward to.

Bummer dude.....

Hope you got a good package..... Any ideas where you're gonna go from here?

I guess you probably won't have, seeing as it's only just happened..... If there's anything we can do.....

Re: Redundancy

Not your fault remember.

Redundancy is bleh. Always makes you feel somewhat lost.

Good luck, I'm sure you will get something better soon.

feel for you - been there, myself

- on the bright side you obviously have a very good set of skills & are still relatively young, i don't imagine it will be too hard to find another job - hope not, anyway.

- enjoy your holiday & then you can start the rest of your career - good luck
