Re: static caravan question ???? ....
I haven't got one, but a mate of mine has. I'd say stay in the site owner's good books - he's fallen out with his and the site owner is making his life hell!!

Re: static caravan question ???? ....
Am not getting one, but where are you getting it, and how much?
Would it not be better to get a motorhome?
Could go wherever then!

Now there's an idea.....
Perhaps someone should add a poll to this thread:
"Where should the caravan be sited (or, where do you want the next CF meet to be)?"
Actually, thinking about this logically, if you were to get a Winnebago you could pick us all up and drop us off - we could have a sort of mobile meet

Be carefull, you can buy vans on site but the policy of the site owners are vans over a certain age have to be removed, check all the rules of the site you are looking at, removing an 8 berth van can cost the earth, some are 5-6 years tops no good if you've paid several £k for a van that has out stayed it's welcome.

Re: static caravan question ???? ....
to be honest I would go for a timeshare, rather than permanent - it ties you to the dates you have to take your holiday (barring swops etc..) but you don't get the hassle of trying to let it out when you are not there.
AFAIK these deals in Scotland are good, due to the different property laws, so if that is where you are looking, I would consider it

Re: static caravan question ???? ....
A static caravan is not a caravan - it's a tin box with legs that are cemented to the floor. It doesn't, cannot, never will, nor never has gone anywhere. Though come the next high winds/tide, you might have cause to wonder. All services are connected up - so no 2 mile walk to the water tap; no dislocated shoulder as you start the generator; no gas bottles to change; and no portable toilet to clean out. As for renting out - same with renting anything. You might get Mr and Mrs Middle-England; or the chav family of 6 from hell.

Re: static caravan question ???? ....
My mate owns one in Ingoldmells, he reckons it's ok it's the ground rent that kills you, the site he's on charge £2,200 per season, he rents his out to cover the ground rent each season.
Think carefully before you buy one, I looked into it last year, there are many pit falls.

Re: static caravan question ???? ....
Yeah the ground rent is often quite high, my mum has been looking to buy a caravan near me (Bournemouth), so she can use it as a easy way to stay when she comes to visit and can pop down whenever she wants.
I gave her a few local sites to ring, but the ground rent was around £4000 a year, because most of the sites down here have lots of activities and rubbish for the tourists. But my mum doesnt really want to rent it out to any scumbags, as she put it, so went off the whole idea, because of the huge ground rent.
