If you look closely on your NTL bill it will probably say (as it does on mine) "This is not a VAT invoice". You would have to contact NTL to get the proper VAT invoice. Of course, if you do that then they'll want to know why a domestic user wants a VAT invoice and perhaps recommend that you pay for the business service instead (which would then cost you loads more for nothing much extra).
I think you'd be better off not bothering, forget claming the VAT back, and just treat it as a non vat expense against your profits with the invoice bill as it is.
