You can fit them yourself, I used to have one of them before I had professional fitted last year, they are expensive for what they do.

Re: Halfords hands free phone kit
I dunno about the quality, but at that price, including installation, and that is integrates with the car radio, it seems good value to me. Certainly a cheaper option than Nidge's link.

You only get what you pay for, the cheapest is not always the best option.

Re: Halfords hands free phone kit
The reason I dismissed the Halfords one is that you have to construct it everytime you get in or out of the car. Plug the wire in and the cradle is not easy to get it into. On top of that you have the wire dangling down from the phone into the cigarette lighter and another going to the back of the radio.
In short, messy and fiddly.
I went for the full Nokia car kit install. More costly but more integrated.
Depends on whether you can be bothered attaching/detaching it every time you get in and out and also whether you mind wires everywhere...

Bang on there Salu, I shopped around for the best deal for my handsfree kit, I ended up going to a firm in Watford who sent an engineer up to my house and installed the lot, well worth the money.

Re: Halfords hands free phone kit
I quite like the sound of these but im curious... Do you need a compatible headunit or are these the hardwired FM-Modulator type? or something else entireley? (Only asking as my head unit has no inputs and is the CD type so no Cassette adaptors)

I'm not so sure what you mean by headunit or "hardwired FM-Modulator type" but the nokia kit has a connection to the back of the radio. They need to know the model of your radio/CD to get the right parts. This then plugs into a black box which is behind the dashboard. from the dash comes another 2 wires that are tied as one which goes into the cradle. The cradle is changeable in the event of Nokia changing the interface so it is future proofed to some degree.
When you get a call it basically cuts the power to the radio and uses the car's speakers to amplify the sound. I assume there is an amp in the black box.
Does that answer your question?

Yes it does thanks I think I might get one, just gotta find a model compatible with a sony ericsson T610, then I have to get some money (somehow ) and then Im all set
Headunit = Your current CD player, radio, Cassette deck, MD player etc.
FM Modulator = A method of getting a signal to a headunit with no inputs by using radio frequencies. These come in two forms, Wireless (Illegal) and Wired (I think they are legal).
