After my problems with my back recently and today.....
I was told that I should sit at my computer properly.
Anyway I was looking at this :-

What is your views on this type of chiar.
Mainly will it help my back?
Is it comfortable?

Re: Posture chairs
Heck at 32 quid its not as if its the end of the world if it dosent.
I think you would probably be able to take it back also if it didnt go right so you could try it out for a few days.

Re: Posture chairs
They are suprisingly comfortable, although you may mind yourself developing extra muscles in you buttocks as your backside attempts to cling on to the seat.
What I mean is , it OK if your sitting dead still at a desk but if moving about reaching for this and that, I found the balence wrong (since you're already tipped forward) and tended to fall off the sides.
Plus depending on the floor of your office, it'll damage the toes of your shoes
Anyway why are you asking us - that the point of the argos 16 day money back scheme, isn't it

I got the very same chair from Argos, about a year ago. I don't have any back problems so can't say how good it'll be for you, but I found it way more comfortable than an ordinary chair.
Certainly recommended.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!.........occasional use only m8!
They hurt your knees after about 30 mins and you can sit far better in a good 'puter chair if you use it properly...........

Make sure that your bum and low back are pressed back into the backrest as far as they can go....and then wedge them back a bit more. I can't really explain this, I need to demonstrate it. But while I was looking for a good explanation I found this

Re: Posture chairs
The backrest should be tilted back at about 10-15 degrees. Some say that the seat should slope forwards as well.......I personally find that uncomfortable. All this only works if you have the seat hight adjusted so that you have your feet comfortably flat on the floor. Once the seat height is correct then you need to look at the desk height ....if thats too high/low then you are setting yourself up for more problems. The desk height is correct when your forearms are flat on the desk and your sitting position is correct (as already described)

I think the main problem is that I've not been moving the chair (and therefore myself) closer to the desk if you see what I mean.
I usually end up leaning over the keyboard instead of moving closer.
Mind you there's not a lot I can do about the desk hight.
And the chair doesn't fit under the desk (because of the non removable arms)
Anyway I'll have a think about it tomorrow.
Hopefully I can sort it out with this chair as I do like it.

Re: Posture chairs
After 5 operations on my back after an accident down the mines I use a lumber roll, you can get these at any sports shops, just place it in the middle of your chair and it keeps you at the right posture. I also invested in a inversion table a few years ago, it was one of the best £199 I've ever spent.
one of these
