Europeans less susceptible to aids?

Quote:
Research by two British biologists published in the Journal of Medical Genetics suggests that around 10 per cent of Europeans enjoy such protection as a direct result of the series of plagues that swept across the Continent from the Middle Ages onwards

Delta 32 makes you resiliant to all know viruses. If you inherit the gene from one parent you can still catch these viruses but even the killers cant kill you. If you inherit it from both parents you are imune to viruses (including the common cold). I know I dont have it from both parents as I have a cold right now but I do get over them quickly so theres hope yet

EDIT: I think its a wee bit more complicated than that actually but that was the basic gist of it on that program I saw.

Re: Europeans less susceptible to aids?

Thats soo interesting, I often think I dont seem to get as many colds as other people, in fact its once maybe twice a year I get mild cold and they never lasts very long.

Hope I've got that gene :-)

Not the sort of odds I'd care to gamble on, though...
