I seem to remember there have been a few threads on scam phone calls and the like, and about reporting them to
ICSTIS . A few weeks before Christmas, I had a phone call (obviously a pre-recorded message) from an American bloke, telling me I had won a holiday etc. Of course all I had to do was call a certain number

which of course was a premium rate one! So I did the sensible thing and reported it, never expecting to hear anything once I'd got the automatically generated reply.
Today I got an email from ICSTIS - a general reply to many complaints! But in a nutshell here is the result:

The Committee decided that sanctions should be imposed against the company in light of the breaches found and it has therefore issued a fine totalling £300,000 across the five different services. Access to each of the services has been barred for twelve months and the company has also been barred from providing any premium rate competition service for twelve months.

So if you think reporting these things is a waste of time (like I did) then think again, perhaps if more people did then these companies might be driven out of business!!
